After ten levels of play in Event #48: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em MONSTER STACK, Day 1b has come to an end with 1,362 players advancing to Day 2. The ever-popular tournament brought out a bumper field again, and in total there were 6,260 entries of which 4,014 hopeful players who decided to jump into this today. Together, they created a massive prize pool of $8,451,000, with a seven-figure first-place prize of $1,037,451 and the coveted gold WSOP bracelet on top. Together with the 723 survivors from Day 1a, a total of 2,085 will return at 11 a.m. local time to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

One of the bigger stacks to bag and tag at the end of the day was 2015 Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen with 129,800 in chips. McKeehen has already reached two final tables this summer but will be looking to improve on his two third-place finishes. Another player who managed to bag a notable stack is Yordan Petrov with 141,900. Petrov already has 5 cashes this summer and he will be aiming to make his sixth the most memorable one.

The Israeli players seem to be having an exceptional summer with another bracelet win today by Timur Margolin. Will Shalev Halfa (186,000) or Uri Reichenstein (111,000) be contenders for another bracelet?

However, one player topped them all at the end, as Jeffery Trudeau from Winter Garden, Florida bagged the overnight chip lead with 193,800. Trudeau, a four-time WSOP circuit ring winner with over $400,000 in WSOP earnings alone, ranks above Halfa and has put himself in prime contention for a deep run in this massive event. Earlier this series, Trudeau final tabled the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, and finished in 10th place for $14,437. The top five is rounded out by Sami Rustom (169,000), Andrew Liu (161,500) and [Removed:10] (159,500).

Other notables that have bagged for tomorrow include David Cabrera and Andriy Lyubovetskiy who have both bagged 155,000. Boris Kolev (108,300), Ronnie Bardah (68,000), Athanasios Polychronopoulos (63,400), Manig Loeser (58,100), DJ MacKinnon (56,500), Ana Marquez (52,100), David Bach (49,200), and Gaurav Raina with 47,900 in chips.

Not everyone was fortunate enough though to make it to the end of the day. 888poker Ambassador Natalie Hof came close but with three hands left to play, she ran her pocket jacks into ace-king to be eliminated after a day where she didn’t manage to build up her stack much at all. Fellow 888poker representative Sofia Lovgren lost it all when she ran her pocket kings into aces.

Oliver Busquet, Nick Palma, Alexandre Reard, Tim Reilly, Eyal Bensimhon, Ralph Massey, Jonathan Abdellatif, Jared Jaffee, Ivo Donev, Kathy Liebert, Stephen Nussrallah, Michael Mizrachi, Mohsin Charania, Katie Lindsay, Barny Boatman, Jamie Kerstetter, Bas de Laat and Arne Ruge are some of the players who couldn’t beat the odds today.

Day 2 will start at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, June 25 with the 723 players from Day 1a and the 1,362 players from Day 1b. The 2,085 players are scheduled to play another ten levels of 60 minutes each. The bubble will burst on Monday as 939 players will be receiving at least $2,251 for their efforts. The PokerNews live reporting team will be there from start till finish so make sure to keep your eyes on the updates right here!
