Phil Ivey Knocked Out in the Round of 64

Nível 13 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey opened the button for 2,500 and big blind Daniel McAulay three-bet to 10,500. Ivey shoved for 85,000 and McAulay called.

Phil Ivey: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Daniel McAulay: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The flop hit McAulay with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Phil Ivey already got up from his seat. As the {7-Spades} hit the turn, Ivey wished his opponent good luck in the next round.

"Or,... poof!" Ivey said as the dealer burned and completed the board. It would've made for a cool scene had the river been a nine, but instead it was the {A-Hearts} making McAulay trips and sealing Ivey's fate.

"Good game," McAulay said as Ivey got up and left through the back door of the Amazon Room.

"Whew, really made me sweat that one," said Morris.

McAulay Leads Ivey

Nível 13 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Following the turn of a {J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board with about 9,500 in the pot, Daniel McAulay checked from the big blind and Phil Ivey bet 7,000 from the button. McAulay check-raised to 22,000, and Ivey tanked for a bit before he folded.

Kalas Sucks Out on Cannuli to Advance to the Round of 32

Nível 12 : 400/800, 0 ante

When we arrived, the chips were already in the middle and Tom Cannuli was already saying his goodbyes. "Lucky river," Kane Kalas said to Cannuli with almost an apologetic tone of voice.

When Cannuli had left the tournament room, Kalas shared the hand history.

Cannuli opened the button for 2,000 and Kalas three-bet to 6,400. Cannuli called.

Kalas continued for 6,400 on {8-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Cannuli called.

With the {2-Hearts} hitting the turn, Kalas bet 12,800. Cannuli shoved for 56,100 and Kalas called.

Tom Cannuli: {8-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Kane Kalas: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Cannuli was well ahead and on the verge of doubling, but the {Q-Hearts} on the river spoiled it. Top set for Kalas as he guaranteed himself a seat to the round of 32. Cannuli meanwhile, who beat defending champion Mateos in the qualifying round, was eliminated.

A Bit for Bonomo

Nível 12 : 400/800, 0 ante

Justin Bonomo raised to 1,400 and was called by David Laka.

They both checked through the {4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs} on the flop to the {k-Spades} on the turn. Laka bet 4,500 and Bonomo called.

The river completed the board with the {3-Hearts}, Laka now check-folded to the 6,000 bet of Bonomo. This win takes him back to just above starting stack.
