The Inaugural National Champion Falls

Nível 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Sam Barnhart after winning the National Championship in 2011.
Sam Barnhart after winning the National Championship in 2011.

Back in 2011, Arkansas' Sam Barnhart had a dream year. It started when he won the 2010/2011 World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Tunica $1,600 Main Event for $148,612, a victory that came off a decision to play a last-minute satellite. Not only was it a big payday, it also came with a seat into the inaugural National Championship, which was held at Caesars Palace prior to the WSOP.

Well, Barnhart managed to win that tournament for $300K and a gold bracelet. As if that wasn't good enough, Barnhart jumped in that year's Main Event and made a deep run, ultimately finishing in 17th place for $378,796. Needless to say, it was a life-changing experience for the man from Little Rock.

Since then, Barnhart has relocated to Las Vegas and has made poker his career. He managed to notch four cashes at the 2014 WSOP, and he was hoping to replicate the Main Event experience he had three years ago. Unfortunately, any hope of that happening just came to an end.

We missed Barnhart's elimination hand, but we do know that he fell to Darren Rabinowitz. Barnhart had backdoored a Broadway straight with {a-}{k-}, but it was no good as the same card gave Rabinowitz a flush.

"I thought I played it great," Rabinowtiz joked.

"I'm just going to call you G.O.A.T.," said Danny Johnson after he saw Phil Ivey join his table in the purple section of the Amazon Room. "Yup, G.O.A.T. That's what I'm going to call you — greatest of all time."

Ivey smiled while he removed the chips from the rack he transferred them over with — about 220,000 worth — while Johnson kept informing him that he was going to continue to call him "G.O.A.T." for the rest of their time together.

Luske Sent Off

Nível 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

Marcel Luske has headed for an early bath and we received an account of his bustout from the player who delivered the red card.

Marcel Luske opened for 1,500 and Bradley Tuck three-bet him to 3,500. After some thought, Luske called and they saw a heads-up flop of {q-}{j-}{8-}.

Luske moved all in for 7,625 and Tuck - as he put it - “tank called” with {a-}{k-}. Luske had the {j-}{10-}.
The turn was a {q-} and in extra time, the river {a-} proved decisive.

Ziemba Uses "The Doyle Brunson"

Nível 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Mike Ziemba
Mike Ziemba

Arguably the most famous hand in poker is {10-}{2-}, commonly know as "The Doyle Brunson" because Brunson won both of his World Series of Poker Main Event victories with the hand. Twenty-nine-year-old Mike Ziemba may not have been alive when Brunson earned both of those victories, but he knows what the hand is and just showed how to make it work.

On the {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, Antonio Scalzi and Peterllese Francesco checked to Ziemba, and he bet 2,500. Scalzi folded, but Francesco called. Then after the {6-Spades} landed on the turn, Francesco checked, Ziemba bet 4,500, and Francesco called.

The river was the {5-Hearts}, and Francesco checked again. Ziemba fired 11,500, and Francesco went deep into the tank. After a minute or two, Francesco called.

Ziemba tabled the {10-Spades}{2-Spades} for a spade flush, and Francesco mucked his hand.

I Love Play Poker

Nível 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

According to Chau Giang, he and another player called a bet of 2,000 from a third player on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{6-}{5-Diamonds}, and the turn was a third diamond - the {3-Diamonds} - and the bettor tossed out an additional 2,300.

Giang and the second player called again.

The river was the {q-Spades}, the bettor moved all in for 5,025, and Giang re-shoved. The other player folded.

The player who was driving the action showed {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a king-high flush, but Giang had the stone-cold nuts: {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a straight flush. Giang chipped up to 46,000.
