Tolokno Takes From Portaro

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Konstantin Tolokno
Konstantin Tolokno

Picking up the action after the river of a board reading {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} with about 21,000 in the pot, Bruno Portaro bet 10,200 from the small blind. Konstantin Tolokno tanked on the button for about 45 seconds before he called and upon seeing Portaro table {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, Tolokno turned over {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to take down the pot.

Looking Back at Level 7: Baldwin and Hanks Fall; Ivey Takes Chip Lead

Nível 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Level 7 has come to an end, which means it's time for another 20-minute break. During this time the WSOP staff will be racing off the green T25 chips. Upon their return, the remaining players will play one more level before taking their 90-minute dinner break. After that, they'll play two more levels before bagging and tagging for the night.

Level 7 saw plenty of chips move about, and some bad beats to boot. One of them was a nasty river card put an end to Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin's 2014 WSOP; likewise, Brent Hanks also fell on the river, though it wasn't quite as bad as Baldwin's bust.

Another player to fall was the inaugural WSOP National Champion, Sam Barnhart, who was eliminated from play courtesy of Darren Rabinowitz.

On the flip side, Phil Ivey changed rooms and promptly vaulted into the chip lead, due in no small part to a double elimination, while NBA champion Paul Pierce managed to finish the level with 96,500 in chips. Clearly Level 7 was kind to two of the biggest names in the room.

Artem Litvinov
Artem Litvinov

Ivan Soshnikov is just hanging in there. We witnessed him check-raise a 2,500 bet to 5,000 on a flop of {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and his opponent laid it down.

Artem Litvinov, though, is having problems of his own. He is attempting to build a tower of chips in front of him, but finding it difficult to balance a stack of thirty green T25 chips on top of each other. A color up at the end of this level should help him out.
