Lam Didn't Last

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Tuan Lam
Tuan Lam

The 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Tuan Lam has just been knocked out by Filipp Khavin.

Andy Frankenberger was kind enough to share the hand with us that started with a raise to 800. Lam called and Khavin three-bet to 3,600 from the small blind. The initial raiser folded and Lam called.

The flop brought out {J-Spades}{10-}{2-Spades} and Khavin bet 3,000 after which Lam moved all in for 7,000. Khavin called and the following showdown went like this:

Khavin: {A-Spades}{A-}
Lam: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

The turn was the {8-Spades} giving Lam a flush but the river was the {4-Spades} giving Khavin a bigger flush to knock Lam out. Khavin, who cashed in the WSOP Main Event in the last two years, is on pace for another deep run this year.

Liebert Hits the Dusty Trail Early

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Kathy Liebert busted with AA.
Kathy Liebert busted with AA.

We found Kathy Liebert calling a wager from Ryan Snickles on a board of {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. The river brought a {k-Clubs}, and Snickles put Liebert all-in for her last 9,500. She though for awhile, stacked her chips into one tower, and splashed them into the middle.

Snickles turned over {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

"The nuts," someone accurately said.

Liebert silently and quickly exited out the nearest door, and the dealer turned over her hand, per tournament rules: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

Engel Tank-Folds to Shove

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Ari Engel made a tough laydown.
Ari Engel made a tough laydown.

Ari Engel bet 6,800 on the end after the community came {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. His opponent shoved all in, covering Engel's last 15,650.

"You really got jack-ten on me?" Engel asked. "I don't think so. I think I've got you here."

Engel tanked for a few minutes, peppering his opponent with questions that were met with only a blank stare into the felt. Finally, Engel laid it down with a sigh.

Break Before a Break

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

"Is Paul Pierce out?"

That was the question posed to us by ESPN's own Andrew Feldman, who had just seen the 10-time NBA All-Star walking down the hallway. This prompted one of our reporters to investigate the situation. When we arrived, his chips, tablet, Redbull and headphones were still at the table.

Pierce has since returned - we thought he maybe had an early dinner reservation - just in time to play his blinds.

Barron Loses the Minimum

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Earl Barron slid out a bet of 1,225 on a board of {7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and was called by his heads-up opponent. The {j-Hearts} fell on the river and Barron checked. His opponent tossed out a bet of 4,000 and Barron announced call.

His opponent tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut-flush and Barron turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a weaker flush.

Yang Stuck in Reverse

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

With 1,550 in the pot and a flop of {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Fatima Moreira de Melo checked from the big blind to 2007 WSOP Main Event Jerry Yang, who bet 850. The call was made, and then both players checked the {9-Spades} turn. When the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, de Melo led out for 1,950 and Yang wasted little time in folding.

Not much of a hand, but it gave us a good excuse to update you on both their counts. Speaking of which, WSOP bracelet winner Mitch Schock is sitting nearby with a healthy stack of 86,000.

Duval Powers His Way to a Pot

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Jason Duval
Jason Duval

There was a raise to 725 from middle position, a raise that was greeted with a three-bet of 2,000 from Jason Duval in the cutoff. The action folded back to the initial raiser and he made the call.

A flop reading {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} was checked to Duval and he made a continuation bet of 2,000. Duval's opponent called and the dealer placed the {J-Diamonds} onto the turn. Again, it was checked to Duval who accouned "forty-two" and tossed an orange T5,000 chip into the middle of the felt.

The turn bet was enough to win the hand because Duval's opponent folded and the Canadian, who won a bracelet at the 2013 WSOP, climbed to 37,500 chips.
