How Sears was Speared

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We missed the elimination of Nikolai Spears, which happened just before the dinner break, but we learned some details after the fact and thought we'd share them with you.

In what would be his last hand, a player in early position opened for 1,600 only to have Russell Crane three-bet to 4,000 from late position. Sears then four-bet to 11,800 from the big blind, the original raiser folded, and Crane called to see the {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop. Sears led out for 11,100 and called off for 39,000 total when Crane moved all in.

Crane: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Sears: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Crane flopped top pair, but Sears was drawing very much alive to both straight and flush draws. The {6-Spades} turn was no help to Sears, and the {a-Hearts} river actually improved Crane to a full house. Sears failed to catch and saw his 2014 WSOP Main Event come to an end.
