In case Argentina and Costa Rica both win their quarter finals, they would be playing against each other in the semi final at the current world cup in Brazil. They already do battle here in Las Vegas though in Damian Salas and Humberto Brenes.
Brenes bet 6,600 on the flop and Salas three-bet to 15,100. Brenes called and then check-folded the turn after Salas bet 19,100. He flashed for an open ended straight draw and the Argentinian mucked his cards before raking in the chips. "Okay now I play poker, no more friendly game," Brenes said in table chat.
Jason Helder raised to 3,200 from early position and and Allen Kessler made the call from late position. Igor Dubinskyy raised to 8,800 from the small blind and Helder and Kessler both called. The flop was and all three players checked. The turn brought three more checks and the fell on the river.
Dubinskyy fired 15,800, Helder folded and Kessler said "you earned this call," as he counted out chips for the call. Dubinskyy tabled and Kessler mucked.
Peter Hong still appears to be our chip leader even though he just lost 28,900 in chips. He raised to 3,500 and then tank-called the all in of a short stack with only to see for the opponent. The flop made things clear and neither turn nor river provided any miracle runner runner.
Another big stack is Andrea Emanuele, who isn't that far off in chips.
We missed the hand but noticed via social media that Gerald Karlic is no longer in the tournament. Apparently he lost a 200,000 pot with pocket kings versus pocket aces.
Jean Marie Vandeborne has been grinding a short stack for most of the day and clawed his way into the money. We saw him three-bet shoving at least two times and he told us that he was not called yet after being all in. If that continues, it is definitely a promising sign for the things to come.
The face definitely seemed familiar and it was indeed Sergio Castelluccio with heaps of chips. The last huge hand saw him open with pocket tens for 3,500 and receiving two callers in the button and big blind.
He flopped the full house on and an opponent managed to four-bet into him and then shove the blank turn with . The Italian happily called and discovered the good news that he was already secured the huge pot.
