Negreanu vs. Ivey

Nível 10 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu raised to 115,000 from middle position and Phil Ivey called from the hijack. The rest of the field folded and it was heads-up action to the {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop. Negreanu bet 225,000, Ivey called, and the {8-Hearts} paired the board on the turn. Action went check-check and the {7-Hearts} completed the board on the river. The action repeated itself and Negreanu tabled {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}, which was no good as Ivey had rivered two pair with {7-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Katz Can Cold Four-Bet, Too

Nível 10 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

From the hijack seat, Erik Seidel opened with a raise to 100,000. Paul Newey reraised to 325,000 from the cutoff seat, then Cary Katz reraised to 700,000 from the small blind. Seidel folded, and Newey went into the tank. After a minute or two, Newey folded, and Katz won the pot.

Hall Keeps Climbing

Nível 10 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Connor Drinan, Erick Lindgren, and Tom Hall took a flop of {6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Lindgren checked in the small blind, Hall fired out 275,000 from the big blind, and Drinan folded in the cutoff. Lindgren called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, Lindgren check-called another 550,000 from Hall, and the {7-Diamonds} completed the board. Both players checked.

Hall rolled over {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for two pair, and Lindgren pitched his cards into the muck.

Katz Fades Straight Draw and Busts Morgan

Nível 10 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
John Morgan
John Morgan

Christoph Vogelsang raised from under the gun to 100,000, Cary Katz called on the button, and John Morgan called from the big blind. After the dealer put out the {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, Morgan led with a bet of 175,000, Vogelsang folded, and action moved to Katz. He thought for a little bit, then raised all in. With 1.07 million behind after betting the flop (1.145 million total), Morgan quickly made the call.

"I'm drawing," said Morgan, as he tabled {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for an open-ended straight draw. Katz had {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for top two pair.

The turn was the {K-Spades}, leaving Morgan needing to hit a nine or a four on the river to double up and stay alive.

The final card to the board was the {6-Diamonds}, and that wasn't what Morgan needed. He was left playing the board, and ultimately was second best to Katz's aces and eights. They call aces and eights the "dead man's hand," and that's exactly what killed off Morgan in this one.

Katz scooped the pot and moved to 4.8 million in chips.

Colman Doesn't Back Down, Trickett Drops Some

Nível 10 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Colman
Daniel Colman

From under the gun Daniel Colman raised to 120,000 and the action folded to Antonio Esfandiari who called from the button. Sam Trickett three-bet from the small blind to 400,000 and Noah Schwartz gave up his big blind. Colman tanked for a bit before four-betting to 975,000 and Esfandiari quickly folded.

Trickett pondered for a while and called to create heads-up action on the flop.

The flop came down {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Trickett checked to Colman who bet 800,000. Trickett took his time before eventually making the call. On the turn the {4-Clubs} hit and Trickett checked again to Colman who paused before betting 1,400,000.

Trickett looked at Colman's stack for quite a while, but eventually he decided to let go of his hand.

Merson Doubles Through Vogelsang

Nível 11 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Greg Merson (Day 1)
Greg Merson (Day 1)

From the hijack seat, Christoph Vogelsang raised to 120,000. Action folded to Greg Merson in the small blind, and he reraised to 300,000. After Cary Katz folded in the big blind, Vogelsang took a short time to think and then moved all in. Merson quickly double-checked his hole cards, and then stuck his chips in to make the call and put his tournament life on the line.

Merson tabled the third-best preflop pocket pair with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. He was all in for 1.23 million and would be in the "classic race situation" against Vogelsang's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, and the 2012 World Series of Poker Player of the Year and Main Event champion successfully doubled up to nearly 2.6 million. Vogelsang was left with 1.21 million.

Seiver Sends Shakerchi to the Rail

Nível 11 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Talal Shakerchi
Talal Shakerchi

On Hand #26 of the feature table, Talal Shakerchi opened for 145,000 from the hijack only to have Scott Seiver three-bet to an unknown amount from the small blind. Shakerchi responded by immediately moving all in for 1.56 million and Seiver snap-called.

Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Seiver: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The {8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop didn't do much for Shakerchi, but the {q-Diamonds} turn gave him some hope as another lady on the river would keep him alive. Unfortunately for him, that didn't happen as the useless {3-Spades} peeled off. Shakerchi was eliminated in 31st place while Seiver chipped up to 4.26 million.

Esfandiari Continues to Climb

Nível 11 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Phil Galfond made it 150,000 to go from the cutoff and Isaac Haxton folded his button. Antonio Esfandiari peered down at his cards from the small blind and announced a three-bet to 355,000. Sam Trickett gave up his big blind and Galfond called.

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Esfandiari continued out for 410,000. Galfond let his hand go and the reigning champ took down the pot.

Schwartz's Nine is Better

Nível 11 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Sam Trickett opened to 180,000 from the small blind and Noah Schwartz came along for the ride from the big blind. The flop came down {9-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Trickett continued out for 225,000. Schwartz wasted little time calling to see the {7-Spades} hit the felt on fourth street. Trickett kept up his aggression by betting 520,000. Once again, Schwartz stayed the course.

The {J-Spades} paired the board on the river and Trickett slowed with a check. Schwartz knocked the table back and Trickett tabled the {9-Hearts} for a pair of nines. Schwartz slapped {K-Spades}{9-Spades} on the felt for nines with a king kicker, prompting Trickett to muck his hand. Schwartz was pushed the pot and now flirts with seven million. Tricket, on the other hand, has dropped to 10.5 million.
