It's not been the greatest of World Series of Poker's for popular British pro Kevin Allen, mainly due to some terrible luck in some of the earlier events. So far in this event things seem to be evening out because as we approach the final break of the day and head rapidly towards the money places, Allen has 16,300 chips in front of him.
We caught a simple hand with Allen that saw him open to 1,500 from the small blind and win the blinds and antes. They all count when all is said and done.

Christian Harder was in the big blind facing a raise to 1,300 from the player on the button. Harder moved all-in, covering his opponent, and that opponent instantly called, as would you if you had the in your hand.
Harder revealed and when the five community cards fell , Harder had to hand over 8,350 of his stack, but still has 14,000 chips remaining.
The cards are back in the air and there they will remain for the final two hour-long levels of the first day of play. Currently, there are 261 players in the hunt for the $306,634 first place prize, which makes reaching the money places — set at 198 — quite likely before play ends. Stay tuned.
We mentioned earlier that a large pot could be brewing between Arnaud Mattern and Sunny Chattha and although it hasn't quite happened yet, it is surely only a matter of time before it does.
Chattha raised from under the gun to 1,700 and Mattern was next to act. Mattern reraised to 4,000 and Chattha let his hand go.
A couple of hands later Chattha had the button and raised to 1,700 when first to act. Mattern put out a slightly larger three-bet of a shade over 5,000 and again Chattha relinquished his hand.
