Kurganov's Backdoor Flush Draw

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

Max Silver raised to 16,000 from under the gun, George Danzer called on his direct left, and Igor Kurganov defended his big blind. The flop fell {5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, the action checked to Danzer, and he put out a bet. Kurganov check-raised to 63,000, Silver folded, and Danzer called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and the rest of Kurganov's 103,000-chip stack went in the middle.

Kurganov: {3-Spades}{2-Spades}
Danzer: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Danzer was drawing stone dead, and he was shocked at the sight of Kurganov's hand. A meaningless {k-Hearts} completed the board, and Danzer started to razz Kurganov for playing his hand the way he did.

"I had a backdoor flush draw," Kurganov protested, pointing to the {5-Spades}.

He chipped up to 385,000, while Danzer fell to 215,000.

Markholt: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The kings held up as the board came {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, and Markholt doubled through.

Leonid Markin Eliminated in 17th Place ($28,414)

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Leonid Markin
Leonid Markin

Max Silver just doubled up Leonid Markin a couple of hands ago, but now he got those chips back as he just eliminated his Russian opponent who started out the day as the chip leader.

Silver opened the hijack for 16,000 and called Markin's shove without asking for a count or taking any time at all for his decision. Silver had {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} what explained the quick call, Markin tabled {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

The {10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board never really made things interesting, Markin departed in 17th place.

Silver Doubles Markin

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Max Silver opened the cutoff, and called Leonid Markin's shove from the small blind for 76,000 total.

Silver had the best hand with {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} as Markin tabled {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop would pair Markin though, and despite Silver hitting a pair of his own on the turn, it wouldn't be enough: {J-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

Sunny Gets Aggressive

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Hiren "Sunny" Patel
Hiren "Sunny" Patel

Dario Sammartino raised to 18,000 in the cutoff, Hiren "Sunny" Patel called out of the small blind, and the flop fell {5-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}. Patel checked, Sammartino continued for 20,000, and Patel check-raised to 56,000. The Italian tank-called.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds}, Patel led out for 82,000, and Sammartino called.

The river was a third spade - the {j-Spades} - and Patel reached for chips. He took five green T25,000 chips, topped that off with a single yellow T1,000 chip, and placed that small pile on a tower of pink T5,000 chips. He pushed out the 226,000-chip bet, and Sammartino let out a loud sigh.

The Italian checked his cards one last time then finally folded, and Patel slid his cards into the muck.

Martin Jacobson Doubles Through Igor Kurganov

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Martin Jacobson opened for 17,000 from the cutoff and Igor Kurganov three-bet to 45,000 right next to him on the button. Both blinds folded, and action was back on Jacobson. The Swede made it 95,000 and called the shove from Kurganov that followed. Jacobson was at risk with his entire 329,000 stack in the middle, Kurganov had him covered by just 175,000.

Jacobson: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Kurganov: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The board wouldn't improve Kurganov's hand and in fact gave Jacobson a full house: {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Jacobson doubled, leaving Kurganov with just 22 big blinds in the process.
