What a Stupid Card!

Nível 5
Norman Chad - when he had chips
Norman Chad - when he had chips

Stud 8

Norman Chad was taking the Phil Hellmuth "tight is right" approach as he was watching his stack dwindle to the point of no return. "It's my new end game strategy," he joked. He folded and left himself with just T75 in chips, enough for one 50 ante and leaving himself with 25 behind. It was going in and everyone at the table knew it.

Maria Mayrinck told the rest of the table "you bust Mr. Chad and I will bust you." The cards were dealt and Chad would square off against two other players:

Ken Aldridge: {X-}{X-}/{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Hearts}/{X-}
Seat 5: {X-}{X-}/{9-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}/{X-}
Norman Chad: {X-}{X-}/{K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Spades}/{X-}

Aldridge would bet on fifth and sixth streets and get calls both times from his opponent in Seat 5. The two checked after seventh street and turned over their cards. Aldridge had {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a seven low. Seat 5 had {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for two pair, nines and sevens. Chad, ever the showman, turned his cards over one at a time. The first was the {5-Diamonds} giving him a pair of fives. A king or ten would give him a bigger two pair and keep him alive. The second card turned over would give him some more outs as it was the {J-Spades} giving him four spades. Any spade, ten, jack, or king and he would survive to play another hand. The third card turned over was none of those, however, as it was the {6-Diamonds}.

"What a stupid card," said Mayrinck as she came over to Chad to give him a hug. She whispered in his ear as she did... "you know you can get hookers and blow in Vegas." Chad laughed and the rest of the table came over to shake his hand and show their appreciation for the man who makes the Main Event broadcasts something to remember every year.

Flack: {x-}{x-} / {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades} / {x-}

Picking up with the action on sixth street, Layne Flack checked over to his opponent who fired out a bet. Flack called to see the final card and both players checked the last betting round. Flack rolled over {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{x-} for two pair of eights and sevens. His opponent mucked and Flack was pushed the pot. He now has about 8,000 in chips.

Holley Makes Queens Full For Half

Nível 5

Stud 8

Holley: {x-}{x-} / {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} / {x-}
All In Player: {x-}{x-} / {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} / {x-}
Opponent 2: {x-}{x-} / {J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades} -fold

We arrived at the table on fifth street to see John Holley check his made pair of tens. The player to his direct left led out with three low cards showing and a third player made it two bets to go. The player showing J-9-5 folded his cards and Holley flatted. The original bettor three-bet the action and the it was four-bet back to Holley.

"Let's caps it and be done with it," said Holley, capping the action at five bets. He received two calls.

On sixth street, Holley led out and his first opponent called. The third player, showing three diamonds, called all in for less than one more big bet.

After the final card was dealt, Holley fired one more time and his active opponent called. Holley rolled over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{x-} for the high with queens full of treys. His opponent took the low with {A-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for an eighty-seven.

The all in player tabled {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for a diamond flush and an eight-seven-four low. Neither of these hand were good for the main pot and she was eliminated from play.

Holley, winner of the high, now sits around 5,500 in chips.

Carlos Mortensen {X-}/{A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}

Eric Rivkin with the {A-Spades} showing raised and Carlos Mortensen re-raised with the {A-Hearts} showing. Everyone folded and the dealer turned up their next cards. {2-Hearts} for Rivkin and {3-Clubs} for Mortensen. Both players checked. The next card up was the {9-Spades} for Rivkin and the {J-Spades} for Mortensen. Rivkin bet and Mortensen showed the {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Rivkin turned over the {3-Diamonds} and was pushed the pot.
