Todd Dakake Eliminated in 6th Place ($51,481)

Nível 20 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante
Todd Dakake - 6th place
Todd Dakake - 6th place

Todd Dakake completed and George Danzer called before Brian Hastings raised. Dakake responded by re-raising as Danzer called and Hasting capped it at 120,000 and both players called. On fourth street, Danzer bet 30,000 and Hastings called before Dakake moved all in for 40,000. Both players called before a bet on sixth from Danzer forced Hastings cards into the muck.

Dakake: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} / {8-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Danzer: {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} / {2-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Hastings: (X-X) / {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} (folded on fifth)

Dakake then caught the {J-Spades} as Danzer improved with the {3-Clubs} to leave Dakake drawing dead. Danzer found the {9-Hearts} on seventh and Dakake mucked his final card as he headed to the payout booth to collect his $51,481 in prizemoney for his 6th place finish.

Final Table Interview: George Danzer

Nível 20 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante
George Danzer
George Danzer

This is George Danzer’s second final table appearance of the summer. He finished fifth in Event #5: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw and now he is one of six remaining in Event #18: $10,000 Seven-Card Razz Championship. There are no easy spots at the table but the players are still managing to have fun and even declared 10 minutes of happiness just prior to break.

We caught up with Danzer as the 10 minutes of happiness were winding down and the players were headed out to break.

PokerNews: Just 30 minutes ago you were extremely short but now your stack is looking much better.

George Danzer: Yeah, I had a very swingy day. I was sitting really good then really bad, good and then bad again. Now I‘m just neutral. Let’s just see what happens on this final table. I have no expectations anymore.

You’re at a very competitive final table but you are all having a lot of fun. How does that change things??

I think everybody is playing really solid. Having fun doesn’t change anything with your play. You are going to do the smart play anyway. You look at the board, calculate the optimal play and just do it, no matter if you are having fun or not.

This is your second final table of the summer — does it give you more confidence going into an event like this?

Yes. I am always pretty confident. I have had a lot of deep runs so I know how the structure changes and what you have to do to get really far. I always play to win so I am not afraid of any bubbles or anything. That is probably why I always make a really deep run or bust really early.

So this is just another one of those deep runs and now I have to fight hard. I have the chance at the bracelet and I just have to keep playing my best. It’s all I can do.

Most of your WSOP cashes are in mixed games. How does your razz game rank against the others?

It’s not my best game and not my worst. It’s just right in the middle. I don’t like it too much. I like O8 and 2-7 better. It is in the bottom third of everything.

Any strategy for the rest of the night?

The blinds are really high, so everyone is going to be stealing. You have to find the resteal spots and the rest is just playing solid. I try not to take too much variance, so in some of the spots I won’t raise even if I have a 5% advantage on another player. Take a little variance out of it. That’s all the adjustment that we can make at this point in the tournament. Not as volatile as the cash game but the rest is the same.
