Over on table 423, we saw a raise to 6,000 and the small blind moved all in for 42,100. After some consideration, the initial raiser tanked and the small blind told him "Save your money buddy. I will show you." Another thirty seconds passed and the raiser folded with a simple "okay" and was shown . "I had a pocket pair. Not as big as yours." Good fold then.
We didn't see his elimination but the grinder from Ireland must have been sent to the rail just before the end of the previous level as he is listed in 299th place. In the meanwhile, we have lost another 50 players in only half an hour and currently stand at 247 left!
Richard Munro called an open in position and they saw a heads up flop of . Munro then faced a bet of 5,000 and asked his opponent how much he had behind, which was just under 40,000.
Munro made the call and the turn card was the , Checked to Munro, he now bet 11,000 but his opponent was undeterred and made the call. The river was the and both players checked.
“Two pair.” Munro said and flipped up . No good though as he was beaten by .
On a flop, Timothy Roberts called the all in of an opponent for 40,000 with and faced for the flush draw. The turn changed nothing and the river bricked as well to see Roberts climb up in the chip count ranking.
Straight from the break into six digits for Marcia Topp. A player limped in late position and so did the button, Topp raised to 8,000 in the small blind and the first limper moved all in for what looked like 25,000. The second opponent folded but Topp snap called with .
Her opponent was behind with and could not improve anymore as the board ran out .
We had a brief chat with Simon Trumper between hands and after initially hating his new table with Sammy Farha to his left he has now completely changed his mind and he loves it.
As he explained it, by having the strong Farha to his left, when he makes a raise it makes his hand look much stronger. So far he has used this to his advantage to chip up in several hands. He also gave us an appraisal of his table and how quickly he had categorized the players based on their actions and a few hands they had showed down.
There is a long way to go in the tournament and Trumper was not satisfied with making the money, far from it. “I’m only interested in first.” he said and then sat down to play a hand.
Trumper raised in early position for 3,200 and got one caller in the big blind. They saw a flop of . It was checked to Trumper who bet 4,800. His opponent eyed him suspiciously but made the call after a minutes thought.
The turn card was the . Checked again to Trumper who neatly placed out a bet of 10,450. His opponent eyed him up even more suspiciously and toyed with his chips for a while. Eventually though he let his hand go.
Trumper showed the table the for the stone cold bluff.
"First time I've made a move all day." he announced as he scooped in the pot.
