Phil Hellmuth and Gabriel Andrade had choice words for one another earlier in the tournament, but the two-table redraw separated them. There was a chance they would be reunited, but any hope of that happening just came to an end courtesy of Heinz Kamutzki.
It happened when Kamutzki opened for 24,000 in the hijack and Andrade shipped all in for 100,000 from the small blind. The big folded and Kamutzki made a quick call.
Kamutzki:
Andrade:
Andrade was in trouble with his inferior kicker, and the man prone to practice his golf swing in between hands stood to watch his fate. The flop provided no help, but the turn did as Andrade picked up both a flush draw and chop outs. Unfortunately for him the blanked on the river and he was sent back to the driving range.
It wasn't a good day for Pratyush Buddiga. A little over an hour ago he began play third in chips out of 15 players, and now he finds himself on the rail in 13th place.
Buddiga lost some big hands to drop to the short stack, and he shoved his last 105,000 under the gun. Davidi Kitai was in the big blind and asked for a count before making the call.
Buddiga:
Kitai:
Buddiga had some kicker issues, but the flop gave him some hope with a flush draw. The turn put out some chop opportunities, but neither the flush nor chop would come in after the blanked on the river.
Buddiga's exit in 13th place means we are down to the final 12 players, which brings about the two-table redraw. We'll have the new seating assignments for you shortly.
Bill Burford had raised from the cutoff and faced a three-bet to 47,000 from Artem Metalidi on the button. Both blinds folded and Burford reraised to 147,000.
Metalidi went deep into the tank for almost two minutes before emerging with an all-in bet of around 600,000.
"I hope this isn't a big show with aces, I call," said Burford.
Burford:
Metalidi:
Metalidi looked like a man who knew his tournament was over. It basically was on the flop and was 100% over when the landed on the turn. The inconsequential completed the board, the hand and Metalidi was gone in 14th place.
Alen Bilic is the day's first casualty, busting at the hands of John Andress.
Andress opened to 20,000 and quickly called when Bilic three-bet all-in from one seat over for 105,000 in total.
Bilic:
Andress:
Andress had Bilic dominated and his stayed ahead on the flop. The turn was the and it was followed onto the green WSOP-branded felt by the . With that, Bilic busted and we are down to 14 in Event #15.
Earlier this week, Phil Hellmuth was denied his 14th bracelet when he finished runner-up to Ted Forrest in Event #7: $1,500 Seven-Card Razz. It was a heart-breaking defeat for the "Poker Brat," but he didn't stay down long as he's making yet another run at gold here in the 2014 World Series of Poker Event #15: $3,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em.
Two days ago this tournament began with 810 players, but now just 15 remain with Heinz Kamutzki leading the way with 841,000. However, if he hopes to capture the $508,640 first-place prize he'll need to overcome some stiff competition. Of course there is Hellmuth, who is currently sixth in chips with 491,000, but also Davidi Kitai (815,000), Pratyush Buddiga (760,000), Gordon Vayo (483,000), Ryan Olisar (444,000), Vladimir Geshkenbein (178,000), and Tony Ruberto (98,000).
Coincidentally, today California Chrome will be going for horse racing's Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes (the last was way back in 1978), and one of poker's few Triple Crown winners (WSOP bracelet, World Poker Tour title, and European Poker Tour title) is still in the field. We're spreaking of Kitai, who woke up with pocket kings in the last hand of Day 2 to eliminate Jake Toole in 16th place and cripple Ruberto.
