Jackson vs. Kelly for Monster 130,000 Pot

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Cole Jackson
Cole Jackson

A preflop raising war just broke out between Steven Kelly and Cole Jackson that resulted in the former being all in for roughly 65,000, which meant there was a monster 130,000 pot on the line!

Kelly: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Jackson: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The table was in awe of the two hands and at the size of the pot. As a few players from other tables surrounded the table the dealer burned and put out the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Kelly was way out in front and looking to dodge an ace. The dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}. The table reacted in disbelief as Jackson spiked his card to leave Kelly drawing to the case king. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {5-Hearts} on the river, the last card a clearly upset Kelly would see in Event #7: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Brent Hanks
Brent Hanks

We happened upon the action with the board showing {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Sean Hegarty, in the big blind, called the 18,000 bet of Brent Hanks from the cutoff.

Hegarty checked the turn {7-Diamonds} at which time Hanks moved all in for more. After a solid 4-minute tank, Hegarty made the call. Hegarty revealed {k-Spades}{q-Clubs} for top pair and the winning hand against the {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} of Hanks.

Waxman Cracks Queens to Send Nadal to the Rail

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Matt Waxman
Matt Waxman

Matt Waxman has been on an up-and-down ride throughout Day 2, but it just hit a high note when he cracked Jose Nadal's pocket queens.

It happened when Waxman opened for 8,000 from early position only to have Nadal three-bet all in for 51,000 from the cutoff. The button and blinds folded, Waxman called and the cards were turned up.

Waxman: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Nadal: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

It was a flip, and according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Nadal had a 56.55% chance of surviving the hand. With that said, Waxman had a 43.03% chance of winning the hand so it was essentially a flip.

The {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop was disaster for Nadal as it took his lead away by pairing Waxman's ace. Nadal's chances of survival dropped to a meager 8.78%, and went down to 4.55% when the dealer burned and turned the {2-Clubs}. Nadal needed a queen on the river to stay alive, but it wasn't in the cards as the {9-Hearts} peeled off.

Nadal was eliminated in 39th place.

2006 WSOP Main Event Runner-Up Sent to the Rail

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Paul Wasicka
Paul Wasicka

Paul Wasicka knows a thing or two about going deep in large no-limit hold'em field; after all, he did finish runner-up to Jamie Gold back in the 8,773-player strong 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event for $6,102,499. Wasicka barely missed out on his first gold bracelet then, and his hopes of attaining it now, seven years later, has come to an end.

It happened when he moved all in from the cutoff with {K-}{Q-} and was called by Cole Jackson, who held {4-}{4-} in the small blind. The board ended up containing three paint cards, but they were all jacks. Jackson made jacks full of fours to send Wasicka to the rail.

Nick Abou Risk raised to 20,000 and Amit Makhija reraised to 46,000. Abou Risk went all in and Makhija immediately called. Abou Risk tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and was up against Makhija's {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The board came {10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{a-Diamonds} giving Makhija the double up and crippling Abou Risk.

Abou Risk was eliminated on the very next hand when he went all in under the gun for his final 50,000. He found a caller in Eric Baldwin from the big blind. Abou Risk held {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Baldwin showed {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Baldwin hit a pair on a board of {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} to eliminate Abou Risk in 17th place.

Scott Yelton limped into the pot from mid position, Amit Makhija, the small blind, called and Ronald Crabtree, the big blind, checked his option.

Makhija led for 25,000 on a flop of {4-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Spades}. Crabtree went all in for his final 70,000 and Yelton folded. When the hands were tabled, Makhija had {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Crabtree {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The {10-Spades} turn and the {j-Diamonds} river did not improve Crabetree's hand and he was eliminated in 16th place.
