Owen Jams the Turn

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Fabian Ortiz raised to 125,000 on the button, Maxx Coleman called in the small blind, and Dan Owen defended his big blind. The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}, both blinds checked, and Ortiz continued for 100,000. Coleman quickly called, Owen check-raised to 390,000, and Ortiz folded. Coleman again called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}, Coleman checked, and Owen moved all in for effectively 2.67 million. Coleman tank-folded.

Steve Gee Doubles Up

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Steve Gee
Steve Gee

Ryan Riess raised to 120,00 from the cutoff, and Steve Gee then shoved all in from the small blind. Jim Collopy then moved all in over the top, and Riess folded. Gee was all in and at risk, and he turned over {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Collopy showed {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. The flop came {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and Gee would need either an ace or a ten to survive. He got what he needed no the turn, the {a-Diamonds}, and the river was the {2-Clubs}.

Gee doubled up on the hand, and Collopy was crippled.

Noah Schwartz Eliminated in 52nd Place ($151,063)

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Noah Schwartz - 52nd Place
Noah Schwartz - 52nd Place

The tabled folded around to Bryan Pellegrino in the small blind who put out a minimum raise to 120,000, then Noah Schwartz pushed all in for around 1 million from the big blind and Pellegrino quickly called.

Schwartz had picked up {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}, but Pellegrino had {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Schwartz would need to improve to double up again through Pellegrino this level and survive.

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Pellegrino's big pair held. The stacks were counted and compared just to make sure, but Pellegrino indeed had Schwartz covered and he departs in 52nd place.

Mortensen Folds After Clock Called

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Carlos Mortensen got the clock called on him.
Carlos Mortensen got the clock called on him.

Carlos Mortensen raised to 135,000 under the gun, and he got two calls: Jorn Walthaus in the hijack and Matthew Reed in the small blind. The flop came {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and Reed and Mortensen checked. Walthaus fired 215,000, and only Mortensen called. A {7-Hearts} hit the turn, and Mortensen check-called a 510,000 bet. The {2-Hearts} river completed a possible flush draw, and Mortensen checked the wet board. Walthaus fired a final bullet, 975,000. Mortensen went deep into the tank, thinking for at least five minutes. Finally, a player called the clock, and Mortensen continued to think. As the tournament supervisor counted down to four seconds, Mortensen tossed his cards into the air toward the dealer.

Rachid Ben Cherif Eliminated in 53rd Place ($151,063)

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Rachid Ben Cherif - 53rd Place
Rachid Ben Cherif - 53rd Place

Vitaly Lunkin raised to 130,000 out of the cutoff, Sergio Castelluccio three-bet to 280,000 on the button, and Rachid Ben Cherif moved all in for 1,015,000 out of the small blind. Lunkin folded.

"Count please," Castelluccio asked the dealer before finally calling.

Castelluccio: {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Ben Cherif: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The man they call "SkaiWalkurrr" was in great shape to double, but the {8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop was a disaster for the Dutchman. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn gave him four extra outs to survive - a nine would give him a straight - and his 2013 Main Event was over when the {4-Clubs} completed the board.

Ben Cherif hit the rail in 53rd place.

Long Finds a Double with Kings

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Philip Long opened to 125,000 from the hijack, and Gaetano Preite fired back with a three-bet to 325,000 from the small blind. Long clicked it back with a four-bet to 680,000, which induced a five-bet shove from Preite. Long called off for 2,655,000 total, and he was at risk with five cards to come.

Preite: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Long: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

Long was poised for a double-up, and he avoided any disaster on the {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} board. Gaetano slipped to around 3.6 million.

Darryl Ronconi - 54th Place
Darryl Ronconi - 54th Place

Darryll Ronconi was eliminated over the course of two consecutive hands.

In the first, action folded to Jim Collopy on the button, and he raised to 125,000. Daryll Ronconi called from the big blind, and the dealer spread {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} on the flop. Ronconi check-called Collopy's 175,000 bet. The turn was the {j-Hearts}, and both players checked, then the {9-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Ronconi checked, and Collopy bet out 450,000. Ronconi tanked for a couple minutes, then pushed out a call. Collopy showed {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a flush, and Ronconi mucked. After the hand, he was very short-stacked with only 615,000 in chips.

On the following hand, Jaime Kaplan, who had recently been moved to the table, raised to 130,000 from early position. Ronconi pushed all in from the small blind, and Kaplan quickly called, showing {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Ronconi turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, and it was a classic coinflip. The flop came {9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Hearts}, no help to either player. The turn was the {10-Clubs}, giving Ronconi an inside-straight draw to go with his overcards. However, the river was the {10-Hearts}, no help to Ronconi.

Ronconi was Eliminated in 54th place for $151,063.

Price Doubles Through Stephens

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Sylvain Loosli opened to 130,000 from the cutoff, and David Stephens three-bet to 260,000 from the button. Oliver Price then took the opportunity to move all in for 895,000 from the small blind, and after Jason Mann (big blind) and Loosli quickly released their hands, Stephens called.

Price: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Stephens: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

Stephens was thrilled that he had live cards, and he took the lead on the {9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. But Price still had several ways to pull ahead, and he did so when the {K-Diamonds} hit the turn, giving him Broadway. Stephens needed a king or a jack to send his opponent home, but the {A-Hearts} secured to double for the Brit.

On the very next hand after Chris Kinane doubled through him, James Alexander again was raising preflop from middle position — this time for 140,000 — and it folded around to Brett Richey who pushed his short stack all in from the big blind. Alexander called right away.

Richey had {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, but unfortunately for him was up against Alexander's {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}. The community cards rolled out {J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and having failed to improve Richey goes out in 55th place.

Castelluccio Believes Owen

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

From middle position, Sergio Castelluccio raised to 120,000. Dan Owen was the only caller from the big blind, and the flop came down {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Owen checked, Castelluccio fired 125,000, and Owen called.

The turn was the {2-Spades}, and Owen checked again. Castelluccio slid forward 220,000, and Owen matched it for the call.

The river paired the board with the {9-Diamonds}. Owen led for 600,000, and Castelluccio tanked. He eventually said that he believed Owen and folded his hand. Owen showed just the {6-Clubs}.

Castelluccio was under the impression that if Owen showed one card, he would have to show both. The dealer had already mucked all cards and was preparing the next hand, but Castelluccio wanted to floor to come over and give him the official ruling. The floor was called, and Castelluccio was informed that Owen didn't have to show both cards, just one is allowed if a player so chooses to do so.
