Jehamy's Stack in Peril

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We continue to circle the tables watching the big stacks pressuring others on the bubble while the short stacks sit nervously looking either to fold their way to the cash or find a good spot to double up.

Amid the excitement is one empty chair with a stack in front of it. The seat belongs to Alan Jehamy, who began today with 62,000 and after about 35 minutes of play has been blinded and anted down to 40,500.

No word on Jehamy's whereabouts, but at this rate his stack may only survive to the end of Level 16, or perhaps become depleted just before.

Brunson Dodges Quads

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Doyle Brunson raised to 12,000 from early position and William O'Neal three-bet to 40,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Brunson who called to see a flop of {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Both checked, landing the {Q-Hearts} turn. Brunson bet 55,000. O'Neal called, resulting in the {A-Spades} hitting the river. Brunson checked to O'Neal who bet 100,000. Brunson quickly folded, prompting O'Neal to show {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for quads.

Watson Triples, Still Short

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Anthony Forsyth Forrest raised to 10,000 from the cutoff, and a very short-stacked Mike Watson called all in for less from the button. Then Blake Yu raised to 22,500 from the small blind. The big blind folded, and Forsyth Forrest four-bet to 45,000. Yu then re-raised all in, and Forsyth Forrest quickly folded. Yu took the side pot between him and Forsyth Forrest, and then Yu and Watson turned up their cards.

Yu: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Watson: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The flop fell {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, immediately giving Watson the lead over Yu's kings. The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and the river the {9-Hearts}. Watson tripled up on the hand, but was still extremely short-stacked.

Players Applying the Pressure

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Two hands on two adjacent tables have seen players put under pressure. All in pressure!

The first hand saw an unknown player raise to 10,000 from the small blind before the big blind Bodo Sbrzesny slid out a stack amounting roughly 100,000 to effectively put the small blind all in.

Going into the tank for over two minutes, the small blind eventually folded and showed the {A-Hearts} as Sbrzesny flashed the {10-Diamonds}.

On the table across from Sbzesny's we caught the action on a {Q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds} board with roughly 100,000 in the middle. Steven Watts had moved all in for roughly 340,000 and the action was on Dean Baranowski who only had 200,000 in his stack.

The clock was eventually called and as the Tournament Director counted down, Baranowski eventually was timed out of the hand to see Watts awarded the pot.

Sheikhan Tests the Short Stacks

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The hand started with Shawn Sheikhan opening to 12,000 from under the gun. The option was then on James Manning, who deliberated over his decision. With just 33,500 behind, he agonised over his decision for over a minute. The ESPN film crew swarmed the table, before another player then called 'time'.

“He gets a little more time than that,” said the dealer, not calling the floor over. A short time passed, and Manning finally released his hand.

“Ace-king? Ace-queen? What’s wrong with you?” said Sheikhan, as the action began to fold back around to him. “I’ll show you my hand,” he added.

Michael Stoner was on the big blind, and flashed his {4-Clubs}, before mucking his hand.

“I can beat that,” said Sheikhan, before showing his {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

Drawing With The Best Hand

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Luke Schwartz
Luke Schwartz

Action folded around to Luke Schwartz in the cutoff. He raised to 10,500 and received a call from Andrea Carini on the button and John Scaife in the big blind.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} and Scaife checked. Schwartz led with a bet of 17,000 and both players called.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} and Scaife decided to lead out with a bet of 37,000. Action was on Schwartz and he raised to 80,500. Carini folded quickly but Scaife went into the tank.

"Wow." he said. "I think i'm folding the best hand here," he said after about a minute in the tank. Eventually he let it go and Schwartz was awarded the pot.

"You didn't have the best hand," Schwartz said. "I was drawing, but I had the best hand as well. What did you have? Nines?"

Scaife explained that he better than that, but it didn't matter as Schwartz had already taken down the pot.

Meyers Applying Pressure

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We walked up to table 418 to find Brandon Meyers, Jevon Lam and Bryan Buonocore staring at a flop of {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} with more than 110,000 already in the pot. Meyers led out for 46,500 from the small blind, Lam called, and Buonocore got out of the way.

The {Q-Hearts} hit the turn, and Meyers moved all in for Lam's effective stack of 145,000. Lam went into the tank for several minutes, shuffling his chips with his right hand, before flicking his cards into the muck. Meyers flipped over {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for six-high, to which Lam responded, "Nice hand."

Tens Hold in Tense Hand for Kamen

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After Tyler Denson opened for 15,000, Nicholas Kamen reraised all in for about 120,000 from one seat over and the table folded back around to Denson who called.

Denson tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Kamen {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, and the latter sat motionless as he awaited the fate to be delivered to him via the five community cards. They came {8-Clubs}{J-Spades}{A-Spades}, then {3-Diamonds}, then {9-Clubs}, and Kamen survived.

The big board is presently showing 656 players left, meaning just eight more eliminations before the cash bubble bursts.

Ladies Hold for Lopez

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We walked to up to the table as the cards were face up and being dragged into the middle. Bruno Lopes was all in for his last 90,000 holding {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, and he was up against the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Michael Ferguson. The flop gave Ferguson a pair, {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}, but kept Lopes in the lead. The {6-Clubs} hit the turn, and the {7-Clubs} on the river sealed the victory for Lopes, who was down on the day, but is now back up to 180,000.

A Change of Plans

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ralph O'Brien entered Day 4 of the 2013 Main Event with just 63,000 chips, and when he arrived at his table, he told his neighbor Jose Pinedamoncada that all he wants to do is make the money.

"I can fold forty-five times," O'Brien announced.

O'Brien didn't stick to his plan, however, moving all in on the button during the first orbit. The player in the small blind released, and the action was on Alexander Kuzmin in the big blind.

"This is my only World Series," O'Brien told the Russian. "I'm not going in with crap."

Kuzmin eventually called, and the hands were tabled.

O'Brien: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Kuzmin: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

The {3-Hearts} peaked through the window of the flop, and for a heartbeat it seemed like some sort of sick foreshadowing, but it was followed by harmless cards: the {9-Hearts} and the {5-Clubs}. The turn and river bricked {q-Hearts}, {6-Clubs} respectively, and O'Brien doubled.

"Yes!" he said, excitedly.

The very next hand, O'Brien raised, and received no callers.

"What are you doing?" Brandon Steven asked him after the hand, baffled because he knows all O'Brien wants to do is cash. "Go away! Leave! Go to Starbucks!"

O'Brien debated the decision, then finally peeled himself away from the table and hasn't been seen since.
