Top Set for Vivek

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Vivek Rajkumar opened to 12,000 from late position and Jonas Lauck defended the small blind to see both players check a {3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Clubs} flop.

The turn landed the {Q-Diamonds} and Lauck led for 15,000 only to have Rajkumar bump it up to 44,000. Lauck made the call, and when the {2-Spades} completed the board on the river he checked.

Rajkumar cut out a bet of 87,000, and after some hesitation, Lauck made the call.

Rajkumar tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} for top set and Lauck flashed the {A-Spades} and folded while slipping to 100,000 as Rajkumar moved to 430,000 in chips.

The board ran out {J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Salas was left heading to the rail as Reason climbed to 520,000 in chips.

Doiron Doesn't Depart Despite Dealer Declaration

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After Sebastian Gohr raised to 10,500 from middle position, it folded back to Michelle Doiron who reraised all in for about 45,000 from the small blind, and when the action returned to Gohr he quickly called.

Gohr had {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Doiron {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, then the board ran out {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

"Payout, Table 368!" yelled the dealer. "Payout?" said Doiron with a grin, and the dealer realized he was mistaken — she'd survived the hand — and everyone laughed, even Gohr.

Melikian Buidling

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We missed the initial action in the hand, but Ara Melikian opened from middle position. Uwe Ziegler moved all in for 50,500 from the small blind, and was called.

Melikian: {K-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Ziegler: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts} to see Melikian turn a full house, eliminating Ziegler from the tournament.

Ravnsbaek Hits 1M Mark, Then Doubles One Up

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

SImon Ravnsbaek just knocked out Brett Maistri with {9-}{9-} against {k-}{j-} on a board that included both a king and a nine. He was up over a million at that point, but we walked by a bit later in the aftermath of an all in in which he lost with jacks against the {k-}{k-} of a shorter stack.

Jehamy Takes it Down

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The table folded around to Thomas Warnicke in the hijack, who opened to 12,500. The action then fell on Alan Jehamy on the small blind. Jehamy missed the first 45 minutes or so of play today, but has returned at last to play his short stack.

Seeing Warnicke's raise, Jehamy moved all in for his last 31,000 in chips. The big blind got out of the way, and the decision was back on Warnicke.

Warnicke then tanked for over a minute, as he contemplated the call. He finally opted to fold, as Jehamy increased his small stack.

Defending Champ in the Money, Poised for Deep Run

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Greg Merson
Greg Merson

On the first hand after the bubble burst, defending Main Event champion Greg Merson raised to 12,000, and Robert Kairnes was the only caller. The flop came {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, and Merson continued for 11,000. Kairnes called, bringing the {4-Spades} on the turn. Merson checked this time, and Kairnes bet 27,000. Merson thought for a few moments, then folded.

This is the second consecutive year Merson has cashed in the Main Event, and with 475,000 in chips shortly after the money bubble, he’s poised to make another deep run.

So Long, Banana Man

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Kurt Fraser
Kurt Fraser

Kurt Fraser was one of the many super short stacks sweating the cash bubble a short while ago, and in fact in the first hand after they'd made the money, he had but 3,000 left after having to post the big blind.

That hand saw Omar Sider raise from middle position and Fraser call the raise without even looking at his cards, chomping on a banana as he did.

Sider showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, then Fraser turned over his hand — {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} — and the table laughed.

The flop rolled out {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to pair Fraser, but he was still drawing thin. "Diamonds no good," he said, pointing out how Sider had his flush draw covered.

Then came the turn — the {4-Hearts}! — and everyone laughed as Fraser had the lead. The river was the {5-Clubs}, and Fraser sat back down with 20,500.

"Banana man with the nine-four offsuit!" said Fraser with a grin.

Soon, though, he'd get his stack in again with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} against Mark Redding's {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, and when the board ran out {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, Fraser was eliminated.

"I'm glad you made the money," said Redding to Fraser when shaking his hand. "Me, too!" said Fraser, who then jokingly left the banana peel with Redding for good luck.
