Diamonds are Beckstead's Best Friend

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Thomas Beckstead open-shoved for 178,000 in middle position, Tom Alner called near the button, and all of the other players folded.

Beckstead: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Alner: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Beckstead was in trouble, until the dealer fanned {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Alner was nearly drawing dead, and the hand was officially over when the {6-Hearts} turned. A meaningless {6-Spades} completed the board, and Beckstead doubled to 420,000 chips. Alner dropped to 445,000.

Depew Gets a Few

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

James Alexander raised from the cutoff seat and got a single caller in Donald Depew playing out of the big blind. The flop came {J-Spades}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and this time Depew led with a bet of 22,000, called by Alexander.

The river brought the {Q-Diamonds}, and Depew bet again, pushing out 40,000. Alexander paused just a beat, then folded, showing one of his cards — {K-Spades} — as he did. Depew then showed his hand — {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} — and Alexander patted the felt in acknowledgement.

Tonnesen and Walthaus Get Tricky With Pairs

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Tzu Yen raised to 23,000 in early position, Martin Tonnesen called two spots to his left, Jorn Walthaus called on Tonnesen's direct left, and Nick Guagenti moved all in for 130,000 on the button. Yen quickly folded, Tonnesen re-shoved for 357,000, and Walthaus called having both players well-covered.

Tonnesen: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Walthaus: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Guagenti: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The {q-Clubs} was the window card, but it was followed by a meaningless {5-Spades} and {8-Diamonds}. Neither Guagenti or Walthaus improved as the turn and river came {3-Diamonds}, {6-Spades} respectively, and Tonnesen more than doubled to 870,000 chips. Walthaus fell to 845,000, and Guagenti hit the rail.

Obrestad Can't Be Stopped

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Annette Obrestad opened for 20,000 from under the gun. Vimy Ha called from middle position. Action folded to Javier Montano who was in the small blind. He reraised to a total of 120,000. Yevgeniy Timoshenko folded his big blind putting the action back on Obrestad. She put in a fourth bet to 220,000. Ha thought for about 30 seconds before folding his hand. Action was back to Montano who took a look at his chips, and at the chips he put in the pot before eventually deciding to release his hand. That pot pushed Obrestad to just shy of 1.2 million chips.

Dorin Flops a Full House

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jonathan Lane raised to 26,000 from the cutoff seat, and Scott Dorin called from the big blind. The flop came down {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and Dorin checked. Lane fired 30,000, and Dorin called.

The {6-Hearts} added another pair to the board on the turn, and Dorin checked. Lane checked back. Then after the {9-Hearts} hit the river, Dorin led for 35,000. Lane called.

Dorin tabled the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a full house, and Lane mucked.

Richey Doubles Through Marshall

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Brett Richey
Brett Richey

Cary Marshall bet 38,000 after the {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop in a blind versus blind battle with Brett Richey. Richey jammed his stack of 377,000, and Marshall began thinking. After a couple of minutes, he announced a call.

Marshall: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Richey: {k-Spades}{2-Spades}

Richey was ahead with two pair, but he needed to dodge clubs. No such sweat was needed, however, as the {2-Hearts} filled Richey on the turn. Marshall completed his worthless draw with the {6-Clubs} river, but Richey was the one dragging the pot.

Verenko Rivers Set to Double

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jackie Glazier opened from under the gun to 22,000 only to have Roman Verenko move all in for 185,000 from the small blind. Glazier instantly called and the cards were tabled.

Glazier: {k-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Verenko: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

With Glazier in commanding shape, the {5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop gave Verenko a world of outs that remained the same when the {Q-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Unfortunately for Glazier, the river would land the {7-Hearts} to give Verenko the double to nearly 400,000 as Glazier took a hit to 1,105,000 in chips.

Cohen Takes Another Hit

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Cheng Liu and Jason Cohen
Cheng Liu and Jason Cohen

Jason Cohen entered the dinner break second in chips with about 1.8 million, but things haven't gone as he would have hoped in Level 19, as he is now down below 1.3 million.

Cheng Liu raised to 22,000 in early position and Cohen three-bet to 45,000 from the next seat over. Action folded back to Liu who four-bet shoved for 279,000. Cohen called.

Liu: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Cohen: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, giving Liu aces and tens to double up and win the pot.

Leading Lady

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jackie Glazier
Jackie Glazier

After returning from dinner with 446,000, Australian Jackie Glazier has gone on a run that firstly saw her flop the nut flush to leave her opponent drawing dead before furthering her stack up the leaderboard to now sit with 1,310,000.

Glazier - who is one of Australia's best tournament players - has had plenty of success here at the WSOP with two Main Event cashes (427th in 2010 and 284th in 2012) and a 2nd place last year in Event #41: $3,000 No Limit Holdem. And with a solid stack here already, another deep run can be expected.

Obrestad Takes One More; Moves Over 1 Million

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad

Annette Obrestad is on a rampage here at the secondary feature table. After taking two pots off Jean-Yves Malherbe, she has just taken another to move over the 1 million chip mark.

Obrestad opened from the cutoff with a raise to 20,000. She found calls from Chris Anderson on the button and Vimy Ha in the big blind.

The flop came down {3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and Ha decided to lead with a bet of 38,000. Next to act Obrestad opted to raise to a total of 88,000. Anderson released his hand quickly, and after thinking about it for a bit, Ha folded too, allowing Obrestad to collect the pot and surpass the monumental 1 million chip point.
