Johnson Check-Ships the River

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Chris Johnson, shown here playing in the Mixed Max event.
Chris Johnson, shown here playing in the Mixed Max event.

Chris Johnson, in the big blind, check-called a bet of 9,200 after the turn on a board of {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. The river paired the board with the {4-Spades}, and Johnson checked once more. His opponent bet 13,100, and Johnson asked for a count on his remaining chips. Shortly after getting it, Johnson put his opponent all in for his last 76,000.

The player went deep into the tank, seeming truly torn about the decision. He thought for a few minutes before he finally said "time" to the dealer.

"He called time on himself?" the dealer asked the player in Seat 9.

After the floor was called, the clock was started. With about 10 seconds left in the countdown, the player finally folded. Johnson turned over the {7-Diamonds} as he mucked his cards, and the players next to him immediately began negotiating a side bet about what Johnson's mystery card was.

Steinberg Wins Big Pot Against Mizrachi

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Max Steinberg
Max Steinberg

Max Steinberg raised to 13,000 from early position and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi defended his big blind.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Mizrachi check-called 13,000 from Steinberg before leading for 25,000 when the {5-Clubs} tun fell. Steinberg raised to 70,000, Mizrachi called, and the {6-Diamonds} landed on the river. A check from Mizrachi led to bet of 120,000 from Steinberg, sending Mizrachi into the tank for about five minutes. With calling chips in his hands, Mizrachi stared down Steinberg who remained motionless. Finally, Mizrachi called.

Steinberg tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a king-high flush, Mizrachi mucked, and Steinberg collected the hefty pot.

Helppi Gets a Bit From Friedman

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

We caught Juha Helppi and Adam Friedman involved in a pot on a flop of {2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}. There was already a pot of 25,000 in the middle. Helppi was first to act and he put out a bet of 14,000. Friedman just called.

The turn dropped the {2-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {6-Hearts} on the river. On that card Helppi put out a hefty bet of 25,000. Friedman looked at his cards quickly before chucking them into the muck frustratedly.

Schwarmann Continues to Build

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Nick Schwarmann
Nick Schwarmann

Nick Schwarmann led the way after Day 2a/b, and he has quietly added over 100,000 to his stack throughout the day. We just caught him taking down a small pot that has upped his stack to almost 550,000.

Schwarmann started the action with a raise to 5,200, and the big blind was the lone caller. The flop came {5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, and his opponent checked to Schwarmann, who fired out 6,500. He was called, and the {8-Clubs} on the turn drew a check from both players. The {j-Diamonds} hit the river, and it was checked a third to Schwarmann, who this time fired out 7,600. His opponent shook his head before saying "I think I missed a bet," before sliding his cards to the dealer.

Boeree's Sudden Exit

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Liv Boeree has recently been eliminated from this year's Main Event, after several big hands.

In her last hand, she got all her chips in on a {4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop holding {k-}{k-}. Matt Stout had called with {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, and was able to river a flush when the board ran out the {8-Diamonds} and {5-Hearts}.

Liv BoereeOut. Pretty stunned. Went from 270k -> 0 with AK<AQ. Then top two counterfeited. Got in final 43bbs with KK vs AK, he rivers a 4flush. Fuck.

Grinder Sliding

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Phil Mader opened to 7,000 in the hijack and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi three-bet to 15,200 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Mader who called to see a {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop. Mader checked to Mizrachi who bet 15,000, but Mader wasted little time check-raising to 35,000. Mizrachi clicked it back to 55,000, but that was met with another raise from Mader to 85,000. Mizrachi gave it some thought, but folded.

Richey Six-Bet Shoves

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Brett Richey opened with a raise from the button, then saw an opponent in the big blind reraise and Richey responded with a four-bet to 20,000. His opponent then reraised again to 41,000, after which Richey paused about a half-minute, then declared he was all in. Gradually he stacked all of his chips out before him to show they total 176,500.

His opponent tanked for some time, then finally with a slight shake of his head let his hand go.

Gruissem Gets Some From Wigg

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Philipp Gruissem opened to 5,100 from under the gun. Anton Wigg raised it up to 12,600 from his immediate left, as the table folded back around to Gruissem. He called.

The flop came down {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Gruissem checked his option. Wigg threw out a continuation bet of 9,300 and was called.

Both players then checked the {a-Spades} on the turn, before doing the same when the {4-Spades} completed the board.

Wigg turned over his {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, but it was no good against Gruissem’s {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}, which was exposed straight after.

Chorny Out, Notables Arrive in Amazon Purple

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Glen Chorny was just spotted heading to the rail, and although the Amazon Room Purple section may have lost one notable, they have picked up a few new players.

Matthias Bednarek Eliminated in Three Way Cooler

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We're unsure of the betting order before we arrived at the table, but when we got there, Rachid Ben Cherif had 6,000 in front of him, Matthias Bednarek had raised all in for 60,300, and Jeffrey Ziegler had called. After thinking for a minute Ben Cherif called as well. The flop came {2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, and both Ziegler and Ben Cherif checked. They checked again when the {10-Spades} fell on the turn, and again when the {3-Clubs} came on the river. Bednarek turned over {q-}{q-}, Ben Cherif held {j-}{j-}, but Ziegler showed {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for a pair of kings. Ziegler pulled in the pot, bringing him up to 326,000 in chips, and Bednarek made his way to the exit.
