Welcome to Day 2 of Event 53 Where the Bubble Looms

Welcome to PokerNews's coverage of Event #53 of the 2013 World Series of Poker, the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event.

Yesterday, 2,816 players packed into the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and battled it out at the felt for 11 60-minute levels. During that time all but 320 players busted and with 297 of those being paid today, the bubble is well and truly looming.

Leading the 320 Day 1 survivors when play commences at 1 p.m is Frenchman Alban Juen who turned his 4,500 starting stack into a tournament leading 168,300. Juen is a loose-aggressive player who can just as easily show up with compete air as he can with the stone cold nuts. It's a style of play that sees him bust out early or build a big stack that he then uses to pummel his opponents into submission.

Juen finished 59th in last year's WSOP Main Event and recently came fifth in the International Stadiums Poker Tour.

Other big stacks include Valeri Savov (138,100), Erwann Pechaux (128,200), Arden Cho (124,800), Chance Kornuth (120,300) and David Vamplew (98,800).

All 320 players will be packed into the Purple section of the Amazon room where they hope to be around for all 10 60-minute levels. Join the PokerNews Live Reporting team from 1 p.m local time for all the action from Event #53.
