Time for a Break

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Two more levels are in the books, and that means it's time for another 20-minute break. The tournament staff will use this time to race off the T100 chip. Here's a look at the highlights from the past two hours of action:

Gruissem Sent to the Rail

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to the German known as "Philbort", AKA Philipp Gruissem, on the button and he moved all in for his last 30,100. Chris Hunichen was in the small blind and moved all in over the top, which drove the big from the hand.

Gruissem: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Hunichen: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Gruissem was in bad shape and looking for an ace, but none would come as the board ran out {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. With that, Gruissem wished his opponents luck, consulted with Niklas Heinecker and then exited the tournament area.

Lipman Beats Litvinov

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

From under the gun, Artem Litvinov raised to 8,000. Michael Lipman called from the big blind, and the dealer spread the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop. Both players checked.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds}, and both players checked again. Then, the {K-Clubs} landed on the river, and Lipman led for 15,000. Litvinov called.

Lipman showed the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} to beat Litvinov's {A-}{K-} and win the pot.

A First for Fabian

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jeff Gross raised to 7,000 from under the gun, Brian Rast called on his direct left, and the action folded to Fabian Quoss, who three-bet to 26,000 out of the small blind. Gross tank-folded, and Rast responded with a four-bet to 66,000.

Quoss studied Rast for a bit, then picked his cards off of the felt just slightly.

"I've never done this before," he said, reluctantly tossing his cards into the muck facedown.

Gross asked about the hand, but Quoss didn't respond.

1SickDisease vs. Lucky Chewy

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Kevin "1SickDisease" Eyster opened for 6,500 under the gun only to have Andrew "lucky chewy" Lichtenberger three-bet to 18,500 from the small blind. After the big got out of the way, Eyster called, the flop fell {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Lichtenberger bet 18,000. Eyster called and then both players checked the {4-Diamonds} turn.

When the {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Lichtenberger checked and then quickly called when Eyster bet 24,000. Eyster rolled over the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens and it was good as Lichtenberger sent his cards to the muck unseen.

A Decent River for Galfond

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Phil Galfond raised to 6,000 on the button, Chris Hunichen defended, and the flop fell {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {10-Spades}, Hunichen check-called a bet of 7,500, and the river was the {a-Spades}. Hunichen checked, Galfond tossed out 15,500, and Hunichen called. Galfond {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

"I'm the worst," Hunichen sighed, mucking his cards. "Nice hand."

"Decent river," Galfond said, scooping the pot with a smile on his face. "One of the better ones."

The Fat Lady has Not Sung

Nível 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We happened upon the action with 45,000 and a flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}. All we know is that Rachid Ben Cherif had the "all in" button in front of him in the hijack and Steve Sung, who was in the small blind, was thinking what to do. Cherif had the bigger stack and Sung had about 135,000 back.

Eventually Kyle Julius called the clock and about halfway through Sung spiked in his chips and turned over the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Cherif then showed the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and was looking to dodge an ace and king to eliminate Sung. He did so on the {5-Clubs} turn as well as the {3-Clubs}. Unfortunately for Cherif, and to the good fortune of Sung, those two cards put a straight on the board and the pot was chopped.
