Salzberg Out in 21st Place; Beauprez On Fire

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

John Beauprez has been on quite a rush. He just won two big hands.

The first was a huge pot. Beauprez raised to 21,000 and Jesse Yaginuma called. The flop came {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Beauprez bet 27,000 and Yaginuma called. {3-Clubs} on the turn and Beauprez bet 32,000. Yaginuma called again. The river was the {q-Hearts} and Beauprez pushed all in for 108,500. Yaginuma tanked but eventually called. Beauprez flipped up {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Two pair was good enough and Beauprez.

The second hand was another good one which resulted in Matt Salsberg's elimination. Salsberg stuck his remaining 55,000 in and Beauprez snap called. The cards were:

Salsberg: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Beauprez: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and that did it for Salsberg. He had a great run but ultimately finished in 21st place. For Beauprez he has soared up the counts to over 400,000

Spades Aplenty for Gnatenko as he Vaults into the Chip Lead

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Aleksandr Gnatenko
Aleksandr Gnatenko

A couple of big hands has resulted in Ukrainian Aleksandr Gnatenko coming out of nowhere to take over the chip lead.

In the first, action folded to Gnatenkor in the small blind and he raised to 8,000. Zohar Spivack, who was in the big blind, then three-bet to 20,000, Gnatenko called and the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}. Gnatenko checked, Spivack bet 26,500 and the Ukrainian woke up with a check-raise to 55,000. Spivack put in the extra chips and then called when Gnatenko shipped the {7-Spades} turn.

Gnatenko: {J-Spades}{9-Spades}
Spivack: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

Spivack had pocket rockets but Gnatenko had turned a flush. Spivack could still win with the right spade on the river, but it wasn't in the cards as the {7-Hearts} appeared.

Not long after that double, Gnatenko doubled through 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe Cada. We caught the action with around 160,000 in the pot and a board reading {7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}. Cada had checked from the small blind and Gnatenko put out a big bet of 100,000 from the cutoff.

"So sick," Cada said as he stood up and put his knee on his chair. Cada took about 30 seconds before calling and Gnatenko tabled the {A-Spades}{3-Spades}. "So sick," Cada repeated before showing the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

With that, the young Gnatenko is now the chip leader.

Three Way All In Sees Wheeler Triple

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We arrived at the table to find both Brent Wheeler and Rex Clinkscales all in for their tournament lives. The two were covered by Mike Mustafa.

Wheeler: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Clinkscales: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Mustafa: {J-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Spades} and Wheeler was able to scoop up the pot with his eight of spades. Clinkscales and Mustafa chopped the rest with the flush on board and a disheartened Mustafa walked away from the table, upset that his flopped set of jacks was defeated.

We picked up with the action on a board of {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs} to find Rex Clinkscales fire 27,500. Keven Stammen raised it big to 71,000 and Clinkscales went into the tank.

After a while Clinkscales released his cards and Stammen picked up the pot. He's now sitting at about 320,000 while Clinkscales has fallen to about 160,000.

Cada Moves In

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Joe Cada made it 9,500 from the button only to have Greg Hobson cut out a three-bet to 23,500. It folded back to Cada who flat called.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Hobson continued out for 21,500. Cada stuck around to see the {10-Spades} hit the turn. Hobson cut out a large bet of an unknown amount. Cada announced that he was all in which was actually a bet for Hobson's tournament life. Hobson let it go and Cada dragged in the pot.

Anderson Out; Alibay Soars

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Calvin Anderson - Eliminated
Calvin Anderson - Eliminated

The flop read {5-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} when we found Calvin Anderson all in and at risk for his final 42,000. Ami Alibay called and the hands were tabled.

Anderson: {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Alibay: {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

"You've got some of my outs, there," remarked Anderson.

Anderson was looking to make his straight or pair his six to take the lead, but could not do it as the {J-Diamonds} hit the turn and the {a-Diamonds} came on the river. Anderson was sent to the rail while Alibay has increased his stack to around 425,000.
