Raymer an Early Casuality

Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

We only walked up as the cards were being tabled, but we saw that Greg Raymer got the rest of his stack in preflop holding {a-}{k-}. Unfortunately for him, he was up against one of the two hands he didn't want to see: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Raymer was never able to catch up, as the board ran down {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}, and the 2004 Main Event Champion is one of the first players to leave us today.

Tehan Putting His Image To Work

Nível 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 150 and the small blind called. Joe Tehan, raised to 475 from the big blind and only the player in the cutoff made the call.

Tehan continued for 600 on the {9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop and his opponent made the call. His opponent also made the call for 800 when Tehan bet on the {k-Spades} turn. Both players checked the {3-Diamonds} river. Tehan showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and the other player's cards went into the muck.

Just Quads

Nível 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

We came to the action with the {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop on the board and 1,450 in front of Randy Lew in middle position. The player from the small blind moved all in and Lew made the call with less.

Even though he was ahead with {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, you could see he wasn't thrilled to be calling with a flush draw on the board. He seemed somewhat relieved when his opponent turned over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. The turn{q-Spades} came and the flush possibility was gone and the {4-Clubs} river gave him quads, even though he didn't need it.

Busquet Doesn't Want to See the River

Nível 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

We walked up to Olivier Busquet's table to see him in the middle of a three way pot on a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. It was checked to Busquet, who fired out 200. Only one player called, and the turn brought the {a-Clubs}, putting four clubs out there. His opponent checked again, and this time, Busquet fired out 400. His opponent grabbed the calling chips, and after 30 seconds of thought, stuck them in. This prompted Busquet to immediately fold his hand, which caused laughter by some at the table, and confusion by others.

The dealer confirmed with Busquet that he knew he was called, and Busquet said while laughing "Thank you for double checking I appreciate it I just didn't want to bother continuing in the hand." After that, the whole table started laughing, as the pot was handed over to his opponent. Despite giving up on that hand, Busquet is doing fine for himself so far, up to 5,525 from his starting stack of 4,500.
