We caught up with the action on the flop, which read . Phelps's lone opponent bet out 500, and Phelps tossed out a chip for the call. Both players checked when the hit the turn, and the same occurred when the river came the . Phelps announced "one pair" and tabled . His opponent mucked, and Phelps took down the small pot.
Yesterday, we were all surprised to see the greatest Olympic athlete of all time, Michael Phelps, sit down and play the $5,000 buy in Eight Max event. Well he may be sticking around for a while here at the Rio, as we just saw him take his seat in this event after busting Day 2. We will be sure to keep track of the Olympian, and see if he can add a different kind of gold to his vast collection.
Paul Volpe just busted and we caught most of the action. Preflop, Volpe was involved in some betting action with one other player, and both were headed to the flop.

Volpe was ahead, but he needed to fade a club to stay alive. The on the turn dashed his chances and left him drawing dead though. The meaningless fell on the river and Volpe was sent packing.

Action folded around to Kevin Saul in the small blind, and he put the rest of his 1,350 into the middle. The first raiser called, and while the next player folded, he got one more call from utg +3.
The two players checked down the board that ran down , and Saul could not beat the of his opponent. We expect to see Saul return at 5.
