Waxman Vs. Mercier: Big Bets On The River

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Matt Waxman
Matt Waxman

We walked into a hand on the river between Jason Mercier and Matt Waxman, where Mercier had bet 16,300 of his 55,000 stack into the pot.

The board was {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Waxman thought for a minute before making the call. Mercier insta-mucked, and Waxman showed {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the win. Waxman and Mercier continue to battle as their table is currently four-handed.

"You Probably Win"

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Gnatenko Oleksandr opened under the gun to 2,500 and Dominik Nitsche made the call from the big blind. Nitsche checked to his opponent on {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}. The player from the Ukraine checked behind which prompted Nitsche to bet 3,800 on the {10-Spades} on the turn, Oleksandr called. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Nitsche bet 8,800. Oleksandr made the call and Nitsche said "You probably win" as he showed his {4-Spades}{3-Spades}. Oleksandr said "I definitely win" and showed his {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Blair Eliminated

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Eric Blair with {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts} was all in against his opponents {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}. He would need to catch a five to stay alive. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. That gave Blair a five but his opponent a nine. The turn {8-Clubs} gave no help and the river {8-Hearts} gave the pot to Blair's opponent. After the stacks were counted Blair still had 200 in chips.

Those 200 went in for the ante the next hand and Blair was eliminated.

Kerr KO'd

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Steven Kerr was all in and at risk with {k-}{j-} on a flop of {j-}{7-}{5-}. He was dominated by Ognjen Sekularac's {j-}{7-}, however, and the Serbian held as the turn and river bricked {5-}, {8-}, and Kerr was eliminated.

Ausmus Doing Work for Waxman

Nível 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Matt Waxman, winner of Event #7: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em, is among the 14 captains in Daniel Negreanu's $25,000 Fantasy League, and thanks to David Chiu's win in Event #23: $2,500 Seven Card Stud, his team is just a few points out of first place.

One of the members of his team is Jeremy Ausmus, who has been crushing today.

"Looks like OCrowe is chipping up," Waxman said to his table a few moments ago, referring to Canadian Owen Crowe. "So he can give them all to Ausmus."

The table laughed.

A few moments, later, at Ausmus' table, the Octo-Niner and Crowe were heads up on a flop of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Ausmus fired out 8,000, Crowe called, and the turn brought a repeat five - the {5-Spades}. Ausmus bet another 16,000, Crowe called, and the {9-Clubs} completed the board.

Ausmus moved all in for effectively 57,000 or so, and Crowe tanked for quite some time before calling. Ausmus showed {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for kings and fives, and Crowe mucked his hand before exiting.

Back at Waxman's table, Matt Salsberg smacked the 2013 bracelet winner on the shoulder, to show him that his proclamation came true.

A few hands later, Ausmus added to his stack. He three-bet to 5,200 on the button after Sean Jazayeri opened to 2,200 in the cutoff. Jazayeri called, and the pair checked on a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Jazayeri led out for 4,500 when the {j-Diamonds} turned, Ausmus called, and the {8-Diamonds} completed the board. Jazayeri checked, Ausmus moved all in for effectively 23,000, and Jazayeri folded.

Ausmus now sits with 275,000 chips.

Watson Raises the River

Nível 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a {9-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts} | {J-Spades} board we saw Mike Watson call a 4,000 bet out of the big blind. On the {A-Clubs}-river his opponent, the player in the small blind, bet out 6,000 or 7,000. It went to quickly to double check as Watson raised to 16,000 and got a rather fast call. Watson showed {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and his straight was enough to get his opponent to muck.
