Negreanu Makes the Right Fold?

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was in a pot with another player on the flop. The player checked on the {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board to Negreanu who bet 300. The player called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and the player checked again. "I'm going to check now because I'm scared," Negreanu said as he checked.

On the {6-Spades} river, the player bet 500.

"Why are you betting?" Negreanu asked. "Do you have an ace?"

"I don't have an ace," the player said. "If I have an ace I'll pay you $11."

"If you don't have an ace I win," Negreanu said. "What are you betting?"

Eventually Negreanu settled on a fold.

"If you didn't have an ace I win," Negreanu said. "I had two queens."

"I had two pair," the player said. "Ten seven."

"That makes sense," Negreanu said.

After that hand Negreanu dipped a little below starting stack.

Abou Risk Doubles With Aces

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Nick Abou Risk was able to get his {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} all in against his opponent's {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Abou Risk was at risk. The board ran out clean {5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and with that pot Abou Risk soared to 16,500.

Olisar Looking For Fifth Cash of the Summer

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
Ryan Olisar
Ryan Olisar

Ryan Olisar has been making deep runs all summer here at the World Series of Poker. Most recently he finished 36th in Event #21: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed). He also has one final table already this summer in Event #3: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry. Today he's off to a great start and has already tripled his stack.

In the most recent hand we saw from Olisar, a player opened to 300 and Olisar called from the button.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and the opening raiser bet 425 into Olisar who called on the button. On the {8-Diamonds} turn, the opener continued with a bet of 1,050. Olisar raised to 2,450 and got a call from the opener.

On the river {4-Diamonds} the player who opened checked to Olisar. Olisar moved all in with a covering stack, more than 13,250. The player went into the tank for almost 10 minutes. He apologized to the table for taking so long. Eventually he announced a call.

"Nuts," Olisar said turning over the {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

His opponent looked dejected, but eventually shipped the chips over to Olisar and took his leave from the tournament.

After that hand Olisar has a huge stack here on day one as he looks for his fifth cash of the summer.

Eslami Off to a Fast Start, Despite Doubling Jarvis

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

When we reached the table, we noticed that Ali Eslami had already chipped up above 20,000. He also had a four-bet of 2,200 sitting in front of him, and his opponent, Matthew Jarvis, moved all in for 7,650.

"I'm pretty much free rolling," Eslami said, referring to an earlier hand where he apparently beat Jarvis.

Eslami called, tabling {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, and he was racing against Jarvis' {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

The board came {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}, and Jarvis doubled. Eslami is still very healthy with 17,000 chips.

Metaal Undercover

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Ryan D'Angelo raised on the button, Govert Metaal, who looks like he's undercover, wearing a WSOP hoodie and sunglasses, three-bet to 625 out of the big blind, and D'Angelo called.

The flop fell {2-Hearts}{a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Metaal led out for 400, and D'Angelo called. The turn was the {5-Hearts}, both players knuckled, and a repeat five - the {5-Diamonds} - completed the board. Metaal checked again, D'Angelo tossed out 800, and Metaal tank-called.

"You win," D'Angelo said, frustrated that Metaal took so long to call.

He showed {k-Spades}{j-Spades} for king-high, which Metaal had beat with {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for a pair of queens. Metaal took an early hit and is still below the starting stack of 9,000.
