Le Plucked by Pollock

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

We missed the preflop betting action, but we do know Tommy Le, who had dwindled a bet, got his last 18,500 all in preflop and was in bad shape against Josh Pollock.

"You got kings?" Le asked. Sure enough, Pollock rolled over the {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Le then showed the {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and was in need of some help. The {q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop didn't give him much other than a gutshot straight draw, and the {10-Diamonds} turn only have him another out to a straight. Unfortunately for Le, the {3-Diamonds} river did not complete it and he was sent to the rail while Pollock chipped up to 95,000.

Young Jeezy Says Let's Get It

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Young Ji Has Been as Cool as a Snowman Here on Day 2
Young Ji Has Been as Cool as a Snowman Here on Day 2

Holding the {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Young Ji called Jonas Mackoff's all-in raise before the flop, but found himself in bad shape against Mackoff's {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

Having run into a cooler of sorts, Ji would need help to arrive on board if he hoped to be the sole survivor of this confrontation.

Flop: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

Ji found the king he was looking for on the flop, coming from the bottom of the map to take the lead, and with top set he was in good shape against Mackoff's club-less hand. The turn ({3-Hearts}) and river ({8-Hearts}) brought no help to Mackoff, and he was eliminated from contention just short of the final four tables.

Having built his stack back to the average mark, Ji proved that in Pot-Limit Omaha, the only way to play the game is to trap or die.

Schwartz vs. Brammer in Monster Pot

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

On a flop od {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Christopher Brammer bet 18,500, the amount of the pot, from early position and then called when Noah Schwartz raised to 48,000. Brammer proceeded to check the {7-Clubs} turn, Schwartz bet the pot and Brammer check-raised. Schwartz called off for 157,000 total and tabled the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the nut-flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. Brammer then revealed {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair and a straight draw of his own.

There were a lot of cards that could come on the river and change things up, which is exactly what happened when the {2-Diamonds} peeled off to give Schwartz a flush. Brammer's stack was devastated while Schwartz quite literally became flushed with chips!

Meanwhile, Christopher Del Grande was eliminated in unknown action at a nearby table.

Ana Marquez Sent Out by Straight

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Ana Marquez Was Sent to the Rail Midway Through Day 2
Ana Marquez Was Sent to the Rail Midway Through Day 2

We missed the action firsthand, but a player at the table informed us that Ana Marquez moved the last of her chips into the middle holding {A-}{k-}{k-}{5-}. Her opponent's collection of small cards connected with the river to make a straight, and the fetching Marquez was sent to the payout desk, much to the chagrin of her adoring tablemates.

Romik Vartzar Eliminated, Frustrated

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

We heard a bit of commotion coming from Table #361, and headed that way to find Romik Vartzar and John McCaffrey with their hands tabled, and a board of {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} lying between them.

McCaffrey had gotten his last 35,000 or so chips in the middle with {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and his pocket aces had transformed into a backdoor flush.

Romik Vartzar's {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts} showed that he had made an inferior flush on the river, and while the value of hand was not in dispute, the value of his chip stack was.

"I had 35.5," he said, convinced that his stack had McCaffrey's covered, which would've staved off elimination for at least a few more hands. "I don't think I had 35.5, I know it."

After a brief dispute over the bet sizes and chip counts, the floor determined that no dealer errors had been made, and the pot was finally pushed to McCaffery. Vartzar exited the tournament floor rather quickly, and play resumed as if the whole affair had never happened at all.

Is that a Song?

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

With 20,000 in the pot and a flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, Scott Davies checked from the big blind and then called when Young Ji bet the pot from the cutoff. Davies checked for a second time on the {Q-Spades} turn and Ji promptly bet the pot once again. Davies only had 40,000 behind and hit the tank.

"I've got the nuts, baby," Ji sang after waiting for almost two minutes. "Isn't that a song?"

"No," the dealer replied as if to warn Ji that he couldn't talk about his hand.

"Even though I put a little rhythm to it?" Ji persisted. Davies seemed amused and must have believed Ji as he eventually folded his hand.

"Show?" Davies asked.

"I already told you," Ji responded while sliding his cards to the muck unseen.

At the same time as the above hand, Allan Le, the brother of the recently eliminated Tommy Le, was eliminated in 31st place.

Young Ji Channels Scotty Nguyen

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

We saw the animated Young Ji playing a pot on the turn, with the board reading {q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Ji responded to his opponent's check by betting 6,500, and while the player contemplated his options, Ji went into his usual table talk routine.

"You want to give me all those chips, that's fine by me baby..." said Ji, trying to confuse and confound his opponent with verbal trickery.

The ploy backfired, however, because the player called Ji to see the {A-Spades} arrive on the river.

After both player's tapped the table, Ji exclaimed "you're flush is good" without tabling his hand. The other player only nodded in reply, turning over the {j-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a rivered spade flush.

Despite his previous prediction, Ji was shocked to see the cards that had been used to defeat him, whistling in disgust while he flung his cards into the muck.

Schwartz Absolutely Crushing; Phan & Brammer Latest Victims

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Noah Schwartz
Noah Schwartz

Since the last break, Noah Schwartz has established himself as the overwhelming chip leader; in fact, he now has over a million after eliminating both Tue Phan and Christopher Brammer.

In regards to Phan, we caught the action on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop with about 25,000 in the pot. Phan checked from the under-the-gun position, Schwartz bet 20,000 and Phan woke up with a check-raise to 94,000. Schwartz made the call and then moved all in when Phan bet the pot on the {Q-Spades} turn. Phan called off his few remaining chips and the biggest pot of the tournament up to that point was on the line.

Phan: {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Schwartz: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}

Schwartz had flopped the nuts and Phan, who had an open-ended draw to an inferior straight, was drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Clubs} was run out on the river for good measure and Schwartz was pushed the gigantic pot to put him around 900,000.

A few minutes later, Schwartz sent Brammer to the rail to become the first player over a million!

Johnson Exits in 28th Place

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Levon Khachatryan opened for 11,500 from early position and Marco Johnson defended from the big blind. After the flop came down {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Johnson led out for 16,000, Khachatryan raised to 56,500 and Johnson moved all in for 121,000. Khachatryan made the call and the cards were turned up.

Khachatryan: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Johnson: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}

Johnson flopped the nuts with top set to boot, but Khachatryan held draws to a flush and bigger straight. The {A-Clubs} turn was of no consequence, but the {6-Clubs} river was as it gave Khachatryan the ten-high straight to beat Johnson's nine-high straight.

Johnson's exit in 28th place means we're down to just 27 players. They're currently redrawing down to the final three tables. We'll have that seat draw and counts for you shortly.
