Chip Counts from Around the Room

Nível 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Aguiar Sends One Packing

Nível 8 : 250/500, 50 ante
Jonathan Aguiar
Jonathan Aguiar

A player moved all in preflop and action folded to Jonathan Aguiar in the big blind.

"How much is it?" he asked. "Four Thousand?" When the number was confirmed, Aguiar threw in the call.

Aguiar was holding {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and he was ahead of his opponents {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. After the flop of {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} Aguiar had a commanding lead and his opponent was already standing to leave. The {3-Hearts} on the turn offered no help and left the player drawing dead. The {5-Diamonds} came on the river for a little overkill and Aguiar took the pot.

Valerstein Busts Mercier

Nível 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Jason Mercier has been eliminated from the tournament.

According to Lee Childs, Mercier pushed all-in after a pre-flop raise and a call, and Roman Valerstein then re-raised. All other players folded. Mercier showed {9-}{9-} and Valerstein held {10-}{10-}. The board improved neither player, and Mercier was eliminated. Valerstein now has 68,000 in chips.

Hellmuth Over 20,000

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

We caught up to Phil Hellmuth on a board of {4-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. A player had made a raise, then Hellmuth made a reraise to 5,500 more.

After a long while in the tank, and attempting to get some reads on Hellmuth, the player called.

"Aces full," Hellmuth said turning over his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

"I figured you were trying to trap me," another player said from across the table. "I've seen it on T.V."

"I was trying to trap you, but I got lucky and trapped him instead," Hellmuth said.

Hellmuth is now inching closer and closer to the current average stack size.

Unofficial Chip Leader

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

We found Jesse Wilkie as he was stacking chips after a recent bustout. He now has 173,000 in front of him.

Jaka Shows a Three

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Manuel Bevand raised to 800 preflop. In the next seat over, Faraz Jaka raised to 2,200. Bevand called.

On the {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, Bevand checked to Jaka who bet 1,800. Bevand called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and Bevand checked to Jaka again. This time Jaka bet 3,200. Bevand tanked for a bit, then folded.

Jaka just showed the {3-Spades} and mucked his hand.

Gunnerson Forces Fold from Hellmuth

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joel Gunnerson is on a hot streak.

We caught up with Gunnerson just as his pocket aces held up and eliminated another player at the table, nearly doubling him up. On the very next hand, Gunnerson raised to 800 pre-flop, and Phil Hellmuth three-bet to 2,500. Gunnerson quickly four-bet 20,000, enough to put Hellmuth all-in. Hellmuth thought for a moment, then elected to fold.

After the virtual double-up and the short confrontation with Hellmuth, Gunnerson is up to 37,500.

Ivey Busts One

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Phil Ivey raised to 800 pre-flop, and Nick Evans re-raised for the last of his chips, a little more than 2,000. Ivey quickly called and turned up {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}, but Evans was ahead with {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Ivey spiked a king on the flop however, and Evans received no help on the turn or river.

After the elimination, Ivey sits with 33,000.

An Orbit With Phil Ivey

Nível 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

What's it like to be Phil Ivey? We shadowed Ivey at his table for a full orbit to see what it's like to be in his shoes. Here's what we saw:

Before any action had started, Jason Mercier walked over to Ivey's table and handed him a stack of $100 bills. Ivey looked confused for a bit, but then asked, "Who do you like for the next game?" which got both men laughing.

Chip count to begin orbit: 27,950

Hand #1: Action folded to Ivey in the cutoff. He raised to 800 and won the pot.

Hand #2: Action folded to Ivey in the hijack seat. He raised to 800. Nick Evans was on the button, he moved all in for 3,975. Action folded back to Ivey and he made the call. Evans showed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}. "Boom!" Ivey said turning over his {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. "I'm happy to see that," he said.

The flop fell {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. "Not now," he said immediately after see the flop.

The turn {6-Clubs} and river {8-Hearts} were both bricks for Ivey and he shipped over the chips.

Hand #3: From under the gun Ivey raised to 800. The player directly to his left raised to 2,000. Action folded back to Ivey who made the call.

The flop was {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Ivey checked again, only to see his opponent raise to 2,700. Ivey put in a check raise to 8,000 and his opponent folded without much thought.

Hand #4: Nick Evans raised to 800 from the hijack seat. Action folded around to Ivey in the big blind who also folded.

Hand #5: Action folded to Phil Ivey in the small blind who raised to 1,000. He found no resistance and won the pot.

Hand #6: Dan O'Brien raised to 800 after everyone folded. Ivey folded his button and both blinds folded awarding O'Brien the pot.

Hand #7: Back in the cutoff, Ivey raised to 800 when action was folded to him. Everyone else folded and Ivey scooped another pot.

Chip count to end the orbit: 31,325
