Day 2 Action About to Kick Off

Eugene Katchalov (Day 1) Starts the Day 4th in Chips
Eugene Katchalov (Day 1) Starts the Day 4th in Chips

Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the 2013 World Series of Poker. It's Day 2 for Event #19: $5,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em here in the Amazon room and just 77 of the original 195 entrants are returning for second day play. After eight levels on Day 1, it's 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event champion Dimitar Danchev who leads the field.

This $5,000 buy-in event drew a field of poker's elite to the felt. While many came with the hopes of attaining WSOP fame and glory, a vast majority of them disappeared on the first day of play. Players like Daniel Negreanu, Scott Seiver, Mickey Petersen, Christian Harder, Phil Hellmuth, Brock Parker, John Juanda, Scott Clements, Phil Ivey, and Brian Rast were all felted before the first eight levels came to a close.

With that being said, most of the field is still stacked with notable names in the poker world. Joining Danchev toward the top of the counts are Ted Lawson (91,000), Eugene Katchalov (87,000), Kristijonas Andrulis (72,300), Dan Kelly (67,200), Jason Somerville (66,200), Jason Mercier (59,500), Nick Jivkov (59,300), and 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem (54,600).

We expect an action packed day here in the tan section of the Amazon room, so be sure to stay tuned here for all of the latest updates from the felt!

Mizrachi Shoves

Nível 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

The flop read {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{A-Spades} when we found Robert Mizrachi check on over to Dan Kelly. Kelly fired 1,200 and Mizrachi came out with a check raise to 6,500. Kelley thought for a moment before putting out a call.

The {Q-Clubs} rolled off on fourth street and Mizrachi wasted little time moving the rest of his stack into the middle. Kelley quickly tossed his hand away and Mizrachi dragged in the pot.

Frankenberger Doubles Through Lykov

Nível 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

Max Lykov opened to 1,600 from middle position and it folded around to Andy Frankenberger's big blind. Frankenberger put in what looked like a raise to 5,000. Lykov set Frankenberger all in and the two-time bracelet winner called for his last 8,100 total.

Frankenberger: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Lykov: {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The board dropped down {3-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Frankeberger was able to secure a double up with ace-high. He's now sitting around 17,000 in chips while Lykov has fallen to about 49,000.

One For Jivkov

Nível 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

Erick Lindgren opened with an early position raise to 1,600 and it folded around to Nick Jivkov in the big blind. Jivkov thought for a moment before opting to flat call.

The dealer rapped the table and spread out a flop that read {Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Jivkov checked to the raiser and Lindgren continued out for 2,500. Jivkov stuck around and the two saw the board pair with the {Q-Spades} on fourth street. Jivkov checked once more and Lindgren checked it back.

The board completed with the {3-Spades} and Jivkov checked a third time. Lindgren checked once again and mucked after Jivkov showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for aces and queens. Jivkov, whose WSOP bracelet is in pot-limit hold'em, is having a good day so far here and is sitting on about 62,000.

Ladies For Bianco

Nível 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

We caught up with the action to see three players looking down at {3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} on the felt. Matt Marafioti fired 3,600 and Salvatore Bianco, the next player to act, tossed out a call. The third player got rid of his cards and the two were heads up going to fourth street.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Marafioti slowed with a check. Bianco checked behind and the {5-Clubs} hit the river. Marafioti took a moment before checking once more and Binaco once again checked it back.

"Ace-high," said Marafioti, showing {A-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Bianco quietly rolled over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Marafioti's hand was placed into the muck. Binaco dragged the pot and now has about 30,000 in chips.

Minieri Doubles

Nível 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

We unfortunately missed the action, but Dario Minieri doubled with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} on a nine-high board against Matt O'Donnell. O'Donnell's hand hit the muck before we could grab it, and he sent 54,000 chips Minieri's way.

Minieri now as around 120,000 chips, while O'Donnell is short with 12,000.
