We saw a big stack of about 65,000 over at Table 370 and politely asked the man his name. After he gave us the name Phil Lesh, we politely asked again as we happen to be fans of the Grateful Dead fans. After some coaxing he told us his real name, Matt Lefkowitz. We're not sure how he got them, but Lefkowitz appears to be among the biggest stacks in the room.
We caught a hand on fifth street between Scotty Nguyen and his opponent. Here is how the hand played out:
His opponent, showing bet. Nguyen raised with , and his opponent called. On sixth street, Nguyen picked up a , while his opponent drew a . Nguyen bet, and his opponent called.
On the river, Nguyen bet, and his opponent called. His opponent showed in the hole, for trip kings. Nguyen showed before mucking his hand.
"You see baby, I just muck it," Scotty said as he let out one of his signature laughs.
We arrived at Table 376 just in time to see Yuval Bronshtein, who appears to be our chip leader, put a bet out on seventh. Gavin Smith made the call only to muck when Bronshtein tabled the for a straight.
"I though you were a Hi-Low specialist?" Smith joked with Yuval.
"I caught good," Bronshtein responded. "I was going high that hand."
"I think even in Israel you'd be bad at this game," Smith ribbed.
"How would you know? You've never been to Israel, have you?" Bronshtein shot back.
"Twice," Smith replied without missing a beat.
Meanwhile, Steve Landfish's seat was empty at the table, which logic dictates that he has been eliminated.
Level 6 has come and gone, and that means it's time for the last 15-minute break of the night. When the players return, they'll play two more levels before bagging and tagging for the night.
Daniel Negreanu was recently moved to a new table, and just as soon as he sat down he was greeted by another player.
"Daniel, my wife saw you on that dating show," he said. "She was really impressed."
The man was referring to Negreanu's recent appearance on the TV Millionaire Matchmaker.
"Yeah, she's ready to leave me now," the man joked. "I'm guessing she's a little too old for you. She's 61, is that too old?"
"It's out of my range," Negreanu replied with his trademark quick wit. The tabled got a good laugh before Negreanu added, "Thirty is a little out of my range too."
We caught a hand on 6th street with Eli Elezra, who was called on the river, revealing / for a full house. Elezra caught either the or on the river to complete his hand. The pot was big enough to assume that there was action on every street, and Elezra scooped, moving him higher up in the leader board.
