Baumann's Flopped Boat Ships Her Chips

Dave D'Alesandro opened for 35,000 from early position. He was called by Gaelle Baumann in middle position and Timothy Adams in the hijack seat for a three-way pot.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and D'Alesandro checked to Baumann, who fired 52,000 into the middle. Adams called and so did D'Alesandro after some thought.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and D'Alesandro checked again. Baumann fired again for 110,000 and Adams again called. D'Alesandro folded and it was heads-up going to the river, which brought the {J-Hearts}.

Baumann fired a third and final time for 250,000. Adams looked pained, but quickly called and Baumann turned over {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a flopped full house. Adams mucked and Baumann scooped the pot.

Baumann is up to 2.6 million, while Adams slipped to 1.3 million.

Mizzi Busts One

Christopher Kolla opened shoved for 84,000 from early position. Sorel Mizzi called from the big blind and the hands were tabled:

Mizzi: {K-Spades}{7-Spades}
Kolla: {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Mizzi was able to knock out his opponent despite being behind when the board fell {8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Mizzi is now sitting on 510,000.

We recently caught up with Mizzi to discuss the positive affects of Onnit Labs' Alpha Brain. Mizzi, who endorses the supplement, is still alive and thriving here in the Main Event.

Quijano Over Hille

Elisabeth Hille was just involved in a three-way hand from late position against two opponents playing from the blinds — Felipe Quijano (small) and Tomas Samol (big). The flop came {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, and when checked to Hille bet 52,000 (about two-thirds the pot), getting a call from Quijano only.

The turn was the {K-Spades}, and both players checked. The river then brought the {8-Diamonds}, and without waiting too long Quijano fired 81,000. Hille thought for a moment, then called. Quijano rolled over {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for a Broadway straight, and Hille nodded as she mucked her hand.

With that one Quijano adds a few more to his stack to push a little past Hille on the leaderboard.

Negreanu Nails The Double Up

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

William Katona raised it up to 37,000 in middle position, and Daniel Negreanu was the lone caller in the big blind. The dealer fanned out a flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Negreanu check called a bet of 46,000 from Katona. The turn paired the board, coming the {7-Hearts}, and Negreanu checked again. Katona fired out 95,000, and after about 45 seconds of thought, Negreanu moved all in 292,000 total. Katona tanked for about 90 seconds before announcing call.

Katona: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Negreanu: {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Negreanu had turned trip sevens, but Katona could still catch an ace or a nine on the river to double up. Negreanu was surely having flash backs to last year, where he finished 211th on the Day 5 on the same ESPN main stage. The dealer waited for the go, and delievered the river.

River: {4-Spades}

Negreanu let out a mini celebration, putting his arms in the air, while the rail showed their appreciation. After that hand, Negreanu jumps up to 768,000, while Katona drops to the short stack at the table, with 138,000.

Heitmann Busts Bresner

Robert Bresner opened to 41,000 from early position and it folded around to the blinds. The small blind called and Jan Heitmann called from the big blind.

The dealer tapped the table and the flop brought the {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The blinds checked to Bresner who continued for 63,000. The small blind quickly folded but Heitmann opted to stick around. Fourth street was the {7-Spades} and Heitmann checked. Bresner instantly moved all of his chips in for a bet of roughly 220,000. Heitmann called.

"Spades?" asked Bresner.

Heitmann shook his head and showed {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a turned straight. Bresner tabled {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} and was looking for a fourth spade on the river to make a flush. The river, however, was the {A-Clubs} and he was sent to the rail, a victim of Heitmann's straight.

Jaafar's Kings Can't Hold

Action started with Mohammed Jaafar raising it up to 36,000. Omar Saeed was next to act, and he three bet it to 86,000. Everyone else got out of the way, and it was back to Jaafar. He moved all in 292,000, and Saeed called to put him at risk.

Jaafar: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Saeed: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Jaafar was well out in front, until the flop came down {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}. Saeed caught his ace, and Jaafar would now need running clubs or the case king to win the hand. However, the {a-Diamonds} hit the turn, giving Saeed unbeatable trips, and sending Jaafar to the rail. The meaningless river was the {4-Clubs}, and Saeed collected the chips to get up to 1.382 million.
