Hellman Rivers Set

Erik Hellman
Erik Hellman

We found Mark Demirdjian and Erik Hellman looking down at a board of {5-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Demirdjian fired 100,000 on the river and Hellman thought for about thirty-seconds before moving out 235,000 total.

Demirdjian was upset at this raise but eventually announced a call. Hellman showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a rivered set of eights and Demirdjian slammed the table in frustration. In dragging this pot, Hellman is now up to 1,800,000.

Hille Hits a Million

Following a {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, Elisabeth Hille and Frank Marro were involved in a series of bets and raises that culminated with Marro calling all in for roughly 450,000.

Hille: {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}
Marro : {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

With top pair and no spade, Marro was in dire straits against the bottom set of Hille. The {K-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river was all she wrote for Marro, while boosting Hille's stack to seven figures.

Playing the Board

"All in and two calls! Table 421!"

So said the dealer after Louis Crispino had pushed all in from under the gun for a little over 100,000 and gotten two callers in Tristan Clemencon (hijack seat) and Wilfried Haerig (big blind).

Both Haerig and Clemencon checked down the {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop, {5-Hearts} turn, and {4-Diamonds} river, the community cards having together formed a straight on the board.

Haerig showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, then Clemencon turned over {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. Crispino then turned his hand over while exhaling — {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Crispino shook his head at having missed the opportunity to get a needed triple.

Isaia Busts Palacios

We're not sure of the action, but we do know Bolivar Palacios was all in preflop from the button with {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and up against Alessio Isaia, who held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} in the hijack.

The {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop was no help to Palacios, but the {10-Clubs} did give him a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, the {9-Spades} blanked on the river and he was sent to the rail here in Level 19.

Marafioti Dodges Paint To Double Up

Matt Marafioti has been grinding the short stack for quite some time on the feature table, and he finally got the double up he was looking for.

Chanracy Khun started the action by raising to 20,000 in middle position. Marafioti was next to act, and he moved all in for 103,000. It folded around to Khun, and after about 20 seconds of thought, he tossed in the call.

Khun: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Marafioti: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, which kept Marafioti in the lead but gave Khun a straight draw as well. Any paint would do for Khun, but he didn't get it on the turn, the {6-Clubs}, or the river, the {4-Hearts}.

Marafioti let out a big sigh of relief and pumped his fist as he got the double up to 229,000, while Khun drops to 242,000.

Juanda Battling

John Juanda opened for 27,000 from early position, then it folded to the player in the cutoff who called, though tossed out fewer chips than Juanda had raised. When the raise amount was clarified to him and he satisfied the difference, the others folded. Juanda asked him if he would have called if he knew it was 27,000, and he said absolutely not, tongue in cheek.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Juanda fired 32,000. His opponent could see that bet amount clearly enough, and folded his hand.
