One for Karr

With around 1,500 in the pot and a flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, we saw Mclean Karr with 2,875 laid out in front of him, which appeared to be a check-raise. Meanwhile, his opponent had three-bet to 5,700, which prompted Karr to fire out five more T5,000 chips, constituting a four-bet to 27,875.

Karr's opponent thought for a long time as a call would cost most of his stack. In the end, he ended up folding and allowed Karr to take down the pot without further resistance.

A Few More in the White Section of the Pavilion

With late registration still open for around 90 minutes, many more players are still taking their seats in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event. These are a few of the players we have noticed in the White Section of the Pavilion Room. Included are two of last year's November Nine, Ben Lamb and Eoghan O'Dea.

Annette's Aggression Doesn't Pay Off

Annette Obrestad opened to 400 from the cutoff and was called by the player on the button. The blinds folded their hands and the flop fell {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Obrestad continued with 600 on the flop and her opponent quickly called. The {3-Hearts} came on fourth street and Obrestad chose to slow down. After her check, her opponent fired 1,500 into the middle and Obrestad mucked her hand. She's currently sitting on 26,000 in chips.

Hawkins Beat By the River

With around 5,000 in the pot and a flop of {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, both the cutoff and Maurice Hawkins checked, bringing about the {7-Diamonds} turn. This time the cutoff check-called a bet of 4,100 before both players returned to checking in the {K-Spades} river.

Hawkins rolled over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, but was disgusted to see his opponent reveal {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for the rivered win.

Kelly Rivers Flush

Dan Kelly opened to 525 from early position, and was called by a player in middle position, and a player in the small blind. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, and the player in the small blind checked to Kelly, who continued for 1,300. Only the player in the small blind called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, both players checked, and the {6-Clubs} completed the board. The player in the small blind checked a third time, and Kelly fired 3,600. His opponent tank-called and Kelly opened up {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} for an ace-high flush.

His opponent mucked.

Baker Toast

We're not sure how it happened, but on our last round we noticed David "Bakes "Baker, who won Event 32: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. earlier this summer for $451,779, was no longer in his seat.

A quick check with the floor confirmed that he was eliminated from the tournament. We checked with Baker's girlfriend, Maria Mayrinck, but she wasn't sure what had happened either.
