Wang Loses Monster Pot Right Before the Break

Nível 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

A monster hand developed right before the break that resulted in a monster 73,000 pot. With around 1,000 in the pot on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, Dan Heimiller checked from the small blind and William Wellborne did the same from the big. Jacky Wong then bet 575 from middle position, Heimiller check-raised to 1,400, and Wellborne flatted.

Wang responded by three-betting to 6,575, Heimiller got out of the way, and once again Wellborne just called. When the {4-Spades} appeared on the river, Wellborne checked and watch Wang, who had the bigger stack, move all in. Wellborne thought long and hard before eventually calling off his remaining 30,600.

Showdown

Wang{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Wellborne{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Wellborne was astonished and thrilled that he was ahead, while Wang was clearly disappointed with his position. With his flush draw no good, Wang needed to hit either a straight or one of his hole cards to win, but it was not meant to be as the {8-Spades} peeled off on the river.

Wellborne clapped his hands together in celebration as he doubled to more than 70,000, while Wang dropped down to just 11,300.

Lew Scoops The Loot

On a flop of {K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, a player bet 1,300 only to have Randy Lew raise to 2,800. Lew's opponent called and the {4-Clubs} hit the turn.

It was checked to Lew who fired out another time for 3,700. Lew received a call and fifth street was the {7-Clubs}. Lew's opponent instantly moved all in and Lew went into the tank for about ninety seconds.

"Will you show me?" Lew asked. He received no response. Another minute passed before Lew finally tossed in a call. His opponent showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for top pair.

Lew tabled {K-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for top two and was able to reduce the field by one while increasing his stack to 57,000.

Moreno's Pair of Aces Are Best

Action folded to the player in the hijack seat and he raised to 400. Andrew Moreno was in the cutoff seat and three-bet to 1,025. Play folded back to the original raiser and he called, but only after the big blind accidentally exposed {10-}{2-} face up.

The flop came down {A-}{8-}{2-} rainbow with one club. The hijack seat checked and Moreno bet 800. His opponent check-raised to 2,200 and Moreno called.

On the turn, the {4-Clubs} came in and the hijack seat led for 3,200. Moreno called to see the {5-Clubs} complete a backdoor flush draw. Both players checked.

The hijack seat showed the {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives, but that was no good against Moreno's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of aces. Moreno won the pot and moved to over 44,000 in chips.

Roberts Wins Nice One

It was the last hand before the break over on Brian Roberts' table which saw his stack rise to around 50,000. The hand in question began with the player in the cutoff opening the pot to 450. Roberts called on the button and with the rest of the table out of the way, the two players watched a {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop spread on the felt.

Roberts' opponent led for 650 here and Roberts then took his time to raise it to 1,650. His opponent made a fairly quick call and the dealer flipped over a {6-Clubs} on the turn. This time Roberts' opponent checked and Roberts bet 2,900. Roberts' opponent opted to raise it here, throwing out 5,200. That amount wasn't enough for a full raise and so the player was made to raise it to 5,800. Roberts called and an {a-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. This time both players checked and Roberts turned over {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} - enough to send his opponent's {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} into the muck.
