Bauman Snags One From Toth

Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

The flop read {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and Gaulle Bauman was first to act in the heads up pot and opted to check. Next up was Richard Toth and he bet out 2,100.

The {A-Clubs} then appeared on the turn, which brought a check from both of the players. It was the river {10-Spades} that made things interesting with Bauman betting out 5,400. Toth went into the tank deciding his best course of action. After about a minute went by Toth announced call and threw in the right amount of chips. Bauman flipped over {A-Spades}{k-Clubs} for three of a kind aces and Toth mucked his cards.

Greenstein's Stack Growing

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

When we got to the table, we saw that Barry Greenstein had put in a three bet to 2,400 from the button, and that the original raiser, who would be his lone opponent in the hand, called. The dealer fanned out a flop of {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and Greenstein's opponent led out for 3,000. Greenstein came along, and the turn brought the {6-Spades}. It was checked to Greenstein, who fired out 6,000.

Greenstein's opponent cut out the chips for the call, then went into the tank. About 45 seconds into his thinking, he asked Greenstein how much he had left. Greenstein showed his higher value chips, and said "pretty sure I had you covered to start the hand." After about 90 seconds in the tank, Greenstein's opponent made the call, and the river brought the {5-Diamonds}. It was checked to Greenstein again, and this time, he fired out 20,000. His opponent snap folded, and Greenstein took the pot down to up his stack to 68,000.

Queens for Heitmann

After a raise to 750 and a reraise to 1,150 from two players in middle position, action folded to Jan Heitmann in the small blind and he reraised to 2,850. Play got back to the original raiser and he announced a reraise. He made it 6,600 to go and the three bettor folded. Heitmann called.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Heitmann checked. His opponent bet 6,500 and Heitmann called.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} and checked by both players. The river was also checked by both after the {2-Diamonds} fell.

Heitmann turned up the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and his opponent mucked. With that pot, Heitmann moved to 84,000 in chips.

Men Under Ten...(Thousand)

Men "The Master" Nguyen opened for 800 from under the gun and Vladimir Peck three-bet to 2,200 directly behind him. Action folded back around to Ngueyn, who made the call.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Nguyen check-called a 2,600 bet from Peck.

Nguyen checked again on the {2-Hearts} turn, prompting Peck to push nearly his entire stack (less some blacks) into the middle for a bet to 20,000 and change. Nguyen tanked, but eventually slid his cards into the muck one-by-one.

Nguyen is down to his last 9,500.

Meanwhile... at Table 430

A couple of hands for you from Table 430, where Jeff Lisandro and Sirous Jamshidi are sitting next to one another.

In the first, Lisandro raised to 850 from under the gun and got four callers, including Jamshidi from early position. The flop came {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, it checked to Jamshidi who bet 1,550, and only the player on the button called. The turn was the {2-Clubs}, and this time Jamshidi check-called his opponent's bet of 2,700. Both then checked the {2-Diamonds} river. Jamshidi showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and his opponent turned over {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} to take the pot.

Soon after, Lisandro was raising again, this time for 900 from late position, and it folded to the big blind who reraised to 2,300. Lisandro called. Both checked the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop. The turn was the {3-Spades} and when Lisandro's opponent bet 1,500, Lisandro raised to 5,000. His opponent considered for a few moments, then called.

The river brought the {2-Hearts} and checks from both players. Lisandro showed {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for tens, better than his opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}, and Lisandro grabbed the pot.

Varkonyi Cracks Opponent's Set

Robert Varkonyi Clubs The Competition
Robert Varkonyi Clubs The Competition

We caught up to find three players looking down at a {Q-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop. The first two players tapped the table and action was on the 2002 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Robert Varkonyi. Varkonyi bet 1,100 only to have the first player check-raise him to 2,600. The third player got out of the way and Varkonyi called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Varkonyi's opponent continued out for 3,500. Varkonyi sat for about thirty seconds before calling. The {8-Spades} completed the board and Varkonyi was now facing a 5,000 chip bet.

Varkonyi counted his chips down and then stared at the board for a bit before raising to 15,000. This bet left him with only about 5,000 behind. Varkonyi's opponent tossed out a call.

"Another nut flush!" someone else at the table said before Varkonyi turned over his cards.

Indeed, Varkonyi exposed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for the nut flush. Varkonyi's opponent shook his head and showed {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for a flopped set of deuces.

"Two in a row," chimed in another player. "You are a very lucky man". Varkonyi smiled as he stacked his new found chips.

Moore Wins Big One

The flop read {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Chris Moore resided on the button duking it out against the small blind. We don't know exactly how the betting went, but we know Moore bet out 5,025 and was raised by the small blind who made it 15,000. About a minute went by, and Moore announced "all in". The small blind snap called, and cards were turned over. Whoever walked away from this hand the victor was going to shoot up the leader board and be primed for a great run here at the Main Event.

Moore had {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the flopped king high flush, while his opponent possessed {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for the ace high flush draw and a meaningless open-ended straight draw.

The {9-Hearts} on the turn only further put the advantage in Moore's favor. It was the {6-Spades} on the river though that secured the win, pushing Moore over 100,000 in chips.
