Baron Booming

Isaac Baron has continued his late run to sit ever-higher on the chip leader board, managing to scoop up another pot that played out like so. Folded to Baron on the button, he raised it up to 1,000. Both the small blind and the big blind would make the call and the dealer would ready three cards for the felt.

Flop: {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The small blind checked here and the big blind bet 2,500. Baron called and the small blind got out of the way. Both remaining players then checked the {q-Diamonds} turn and it was on to the {j-Hearts} river. The small blind led out for 4,300 and Baron called. Baron then tabled {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, enough to send his opponent's cards into the muck and rake in the pot.

McNally Takes Williams' Chips

David Williams is back under 20,000 in chips, courtesy of Steve McNally. The hand in question saw McNally open the pot to 825 from the cutoff. David Williams then three-bet to 2,000 from the button and the dealer would spread out a {j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop. McNally checked here and Williams bet 2,300. Both players checked the {7-Clubs} turn and it was on to the {10-Clubs} river. This time McNally would lead out for 5,800 and Williams would make the call.

When McNally turned over {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, the runner-runner flush was enough to swipe the pot off Williams.

Randall Busts One

We arrived at David Randall's table and found he had a player all in at risk.

Randall held {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, trailing the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} of his opponent. However, Randall pulled ahead when the flop came down {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to give him the ace-high flush. The {2-Hearts} turn gave his opponent outs to a full house, but the {9-Spades} river was safe for Randall, adding about 27,000 to his stack.

Boujenah Takes Two from Farkas

On the first hand, the board was {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} between Ilan Boujenah and Julie Farkas. Boujenah checked and Farkas bet 1,400. Boujenah called. Both players then checked the {7-Hearts} turn and the {6-Clubs} landed on the river. Boujenah bet 2,500 and Farkas called. Boujenah showed the {K-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Farkas mucked.

Later on, Boujenah checked the {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop and Farkas bet 1,400. Boujenah called and then checked the {A-Hearts} turn card. Farkas checked back. After the {8-Hearts} landed on the river, Boujenah bet 2,100 and Farkas folded.

Baron Doing Great

Isaac Baron has been doing very well of late, seeing his chip stack rise above 70,000. We recently watched a hand involving Baron that started with the hijack player opening the pot to 800. The player on the button made the call, along with Baron in the small blind. On the {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, Baron checked and the hijack shoved all in for 6,450. The button player called and so too did Baron.

The {3-Hearts} turn would see Baron lead for 13,000 and the button player get out of the way as the all-in player and Baron would turn over their cards.

Baron: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
All-in Player: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Baron was too far in front for his opponent to come back, scooping up the pot as a {8-Hearts} on the river was too little too late.

Everybody Loves Ace-Jack

We missed Ray Romano's bust-out hand, but Anton Wigg filled us in on the details. Apparently, Romano open-jammed for 9,000 or so from under the gun holding {a-}{j-}, and a player in the big bling called with {a-}{k-} suited. The player in the big blind flopped a flush, an Romano's day came to a close.

Hellmuth's Series Over

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

The under the gun player raised it up to 900. Michael Tureniec in middle position made the call, as did Phil Hellmuth.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} prompting a check from the under-the-gun player, and a bet of 1,650 from Tureniec. Next it was on Hellmuth who announced "4,000" and threw out the raise. The under-the-gun player folded and Tureniec went all in, a bet that would put the short-stacked Hellmuth all in. Hellmuth called all in for his few remaining chips, and was in for a sore sight.

Tureniec: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Hellmuth: {A-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The turn brought the {2-Hearts}, prompting Hellmuth to stand up and begin his walk out the door, mumbling how Tureniec wins every hand. A meaningless {7-Diamonds} landed on the river and Hellmuth was halfway to the closest door dropping a few choice profanities at nothing in particular.

This ends Hellmuth's 2012 World Series of Poker. The poker brat has had a fairly successful showing this year; boasting 6 cashes, 3 final tables, 1 bracelet, and $2,985,840 in WSOP winnings. Despite this amazing outing at the WSOP, being knocked out of the main event has to be an extremely tough beat to handle for any talented poker pro.
