The Ladies Love Kristy

Kristy Arnett
Kristy Arnett

Kristy Arnett was in a three way pot on a flop of {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} when we arrived at the table. Arnett checked from the small blind, as did the big blind, and their other opponent fired out 725. Both players called, and the turn brought the {q-Clubs}. Arnett checked again, and the big blind bet 1,200. Their other opponent folded, but Arnett came along.

The river was the {9-Spades}, and both players checked. Arnett tabled {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for trip queens, and her opponent mucked. After that pot, Arnett is back up over starting stack, sitting on 32,000.

Williams Down Early; Then Doubles

When we arrived at David Williams' table, we noticed he was sitting behind a chip stack of around 18,000. We also noticed he was involved in a hand on the turn of a {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} board and was up against two opponents. Williams was first to act and checked. The player in the cutoff position then led for 1,525 and the other player involved in the hand folded from the button. Back on Williams and he would raise to 4,500. Williams' opponent opted to shove all in here, having Williams covered. Williams made an extremely quick call, holding 16,300 behind. At this point the two players turned their hands over.

Williams: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Williams was way ahead with the straight on the turn and it stayed that way as a {8-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

A Pair of Hands from Tan

Over in the Tan Section sits Kennii Nguyen. Nguyen has had an impressive showing so far this year at the World Series of Poker with six cashes, including a second-place finish in Event 19: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. Nguyen is always very recognizable, as he sports a very colorful and large jester's hat. Today he seems to have added matching shoulder pads to go along with his loud hat.

Recently, we caught up to Nguyen as he was getting involved in a pot. The flop read {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Spades} and Nguyen's early-positioned opponent bet 500. Nguyen raised to 1,025. A call was made and both players were granted access to the turn.

The {9-Clubs} on fourth street saw a check from Nguyen's opponent and a bet of 1,775 from the jester. Nguyen's opponent took a minute or so before folding {Q-}{Q-} face up. Nguyen said it was a good fold, and raked in the pot.

A few tables away sits Jay Rosenkrantz. Recently, we caught up to him on the button facing a bet of 800 from an early-position player. The board read {5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Rosenkrantz had a decision to make. Instead of simply calling or folding Rosenkrantz raised and placed 3,200 in the middle. Rosenkrantz's opponent quickly called, and was sickened to see Rosenkrantz flip over {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for the straight. The early position player mucked and Rosenkrantz took down the pot.

Rahme Calls With Sixth Pair

There was 600 in the middle on a board reading {4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades} when we arrived at the table. Raymond Rahme was heads up with the small blind, who fired out 525 into the pot. Rahme made the call, and the river was the {q-Hearts}. The small blind thought for about 20 seconds before tossing out 1,675. Rahme tanked for about a minute before tossing in the call.

The small blind showed {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for jack high, to which Rahme replied "Nothing?" He then flipped over {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for an underpair, which was good enough to take the pot. Despite that win, it's been a rough start for Rahme, as he's down to 15,000.
