Not a Nice Welcome for Kabbaj

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

On the {3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, John Kabbaj bet 2,000 and then faced the raise to 9,700 by Dimitri Holdeew. The German, who had won the Eureka Prague Main Event in 2015 and then finished 15th in the European Poker Tour Main Event at the same venue straight after, received a call from Kabbaj and immediately fired the pot again after the {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn.

The pot was 22,500 and thus, Holdeew was at risk for his last 21,125 chips. Kabbaj eventually released his cards, though.

Kabbaj Enters Competition

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner John Kabbaj has entered Day 1 and sits on a table with Claus Carlsen and Roman Cieslik. The Brit won his second career bracelet in Las Vegas last year by taking down the $ 2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo (Event #25) for $ 267,327 and will be a likely candidate for one of the top spots in this events as well.

Nicholson Eliminated

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

He came, he saw, he busted Nicholson. Florian Langmann had just sat down and then pushed all in after the river of a {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board. Nicholson, who started the hand with 21,000 chips, called off and mucked once Langmann showed {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the nut straight. As it was an all in showdown, the dealer turned over Nicholson's {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} for the lower straight and Langmann received a nice add on at the very start.

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

"No rebuy?" Miltiadis Kyriakides joked towards Jesper Hougaard. The Dane had just moved all in after the river of a {3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} board against Vadim Markushevski and enforced a fold. Hougaard smiled over to the Greek and said "I am trying".

On the {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} turn with a pot of around 7,000 chips, Vadzim Markushevsky bet 5,000 and Miltiadis Kyriakides quickly moved forward his entire stack for a pot-sized raise. The Belorussian folded and Kyriakides, who had previously announced to aim for a re-entry, moved back to almost starting stack.

Hougaard Misses all Draws

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

On the flop {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Vasili Firsau check-raised the pot to 3,600 and initial better Jesper Hougaard called after having put in 900. Firsau immediately bet the {3-Diamonds} turn for 7,125 and was called again before making it 6,100 to go on the {K-Diamonds} river. Hougaard double-checked his cards and then mucked, saying "I have the biggest draw you can imagine".

Firsau flashed the {A-Hearts} and Hougaard said "nice hand, did you have the nut flush draw?" before the start of the next hand.

Early Fireworks

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

In a multi-way pot, Besim Hot squeezed to 3,650 and Jan-Peter Jachtmann folded whereas Miltiadis Kyriakides then called. "No ace please," the Greek said to the dealer and turned his face away from the table as well as announced a check in the dark. The flop came {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Kyriakides asked Jachtmann if there was an ace, which the German denied.

Kyriakides then looked over and said "oh deuce deuce eight, man," before Hot asked the dealer for the size of the pot. It was 7,950 and Hot bet 7,800 and Kyriakides folded the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}. "Nice hand," Jachtmann said when he saw the cards and Hot cheekily turned over his {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}. "The straight is coming, I know it," Hot added in German in the table talk.
