Zhao Jumps Into the Lead

Ladva vs Zhao
Ladva vs Zhao

Blinds 2,500-5,000

Ottomar Ladva raised to 10,000 from the under the gun position and was called by Wei Zhao in the big blind. On a {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop, Zhao opted for a check-call when Ladva made it 6,825 to go. That led to the {4-Clubs} turn on which Zhao check-raised to 109,875. Ladva had bet 22,975 and called all-in for the 32,239 he had behind.

Ottomar Ladva: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Wei Zhao: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {3-Clubs} river brought no diamond and Ladva hit the rail.

Neilson Doubles Jeppsson

Jeppsson vs Neilson
Jeppsson vs Neilson

Blinds 2,500-5,000

Christian Jeppsson open-jammed from the hijack with the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and found a caller in table big stack Daniel "BaccaratKing" Neilson out of the small blind. Neilson tabled the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and found no five on the {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{q-Spades} board.

Recent Eliminations Part V

Blinds 2,500-5,000

In extraordinary fashion, the last few minutes saw more than 100 players hit the rail as the remaining field has dipped below 700 contenders.

The Late Registration has Closed

Blinds 2,000-4,000

Only a few minutes remain in level 17 and the late registration has closed two minutes ago. A total of 1,849 entries boosted the prize pool to $1,405,240 and the top 305 spots will earn at least $1,345 for their efforts. Reaching the nine-handed final table comes with a payout worth $17,823 and the winner takes home $178,236.

Geilich Flips Well

Blinds 2,000-4,000

Scotsman Ludovic "Gr4vyB04t" Geilich was one of many notables that took advantage of the extensive late registration and had to fire a second shell. That one just paid profit when he knocked out "JeffBloss" in the below preflop contest.

"JeffBloss": {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Ludovic "Gr4vyB04t" Geilich: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} board left no doubt after the turn as Geilich made eights full.

Vezhenkov Hits the Rail

Internecik busts Vezhenkov
Internecik busts Vezhenkov

Blinds 2,000-4,000

Moments before the blinds went up once more, Artem "Ar0wana" Vezhenkov was the shortest player involved in a three-way all-in against recent WSOPC Event finalist "Internecik" and Artur Martirosian.

Artem "Ar0wana" Vezhenkov: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
"Internecik": {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Artur Martirosian: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Martirosian remained ahead on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and {5-Hearts} turn but the {k-Spades} struck on the river.

Joyce and Matakis Earn Knockouts

Blinds 1,750-3,500

Ian "potamophobia" Matakis raised to 7,700 in the cutoff and called the shove worth 48,200 by late entrant "fubotv" out of the big blind.

"fubotv": {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Ian "potamophobia" Matakis: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} board gave Matakis a pair of aces and the pot.

Two hands later, fellow late re-entrant Ami Barer flicked it in pre and Toby "shinerrr" Joyce called out of the small blind.

Ami Barer: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Toby "shinerrr" Joyce: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Again the superior pair prevailed thanks to a {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs} board.

Ioannis "Chitirijr" Droushiotis flicked in a fourth and final entry into Barer's vacated seat and {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} found no miracle against the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} of Matakis on a {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Spades} runout.

Plesuv Doubles Through Henao

Blinds 1,750-3,500

Sebastian "joga_bonito" Henao opened to 7,350 and Pavel "EzzzGame" Plesuv three-bet to 21,700 in the hijack. Henao then ripped in for more than 462,000 and was quickly called by Plesuv.

Pavel "EzzzGame" Plesuv: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Sebastian "joga_bonito" Henao: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Henao flopped a gutshot on {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} but failed to get there on the {9-Spades} turn and {k-Diamonds} river, which gave Plesuv a solid double.

Maslak Eliminated by Uselis

Blinds 1,500-3,000

The flood of eliminations continues as fewer than 830 players remain with more than 1,700 total entries in level 16.

Among those to depart was also Konstantin Maslak who jammed fewer than the starting stack on the button with the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. He was looked up by Gediminas "NeverGambol" Uselis in the small blind with {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} and that made a straight on the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} board.

Loeser Loses a Showdown

Omar28 vs Loeser
Omar28 vs Loeser

Blinds 1,500-3,000

Manig Loeser raised it up from the hijack and then called the shove of "Omar28" on the button.

Loeser tabled the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} but was trailing against {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. The board ran out {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} for aces to hold as Loeser took a hit.
