Jarno Janssens and Matthiue Fong clashed preflop, getting all their chips in the middle. Fong had Janssens slightly covered as players flipped their cards.

The board ran out 7♦7♣2♠3♥8♠. Janssens didn't pair up his hand and Fong held with his pocket nines to win the pot and close to double up his stack. Janssens was eliminated from the tournament.
Nataliia Alkhimova raised from early position and Christopher Kiefert called. Nuno Alvarez reraised to 13,000 from the big blind, Alkhimova folded and Kiefert made the call.
The flop came J♦8♦10♥. Kiefert checked and Alvarez moved all in for 39,000. Kiefert made the fold and Alvarez chipped up early with his starting stack.
Salvatore Donato raised from early position and was called by Ercan Atmaca and the player in the big blind.
The flop came 7♠3♠6♥. The big blind checked and Donato made a continuation bet of 8,000. Atmaca called and the big blind folded.
The turn was the 8♣. Donato checked and Atmaca bet out 12,000. Donato quickly made the call. The river was the 9♥ and Donato checked again. Atmaca pushed in a pile of blues worth 30,000 chips and Donato called.
Atmaca flipped over A♦Q♠ for ace high and was running a bluff. Donato showed 5♥5♠ for a turned straight and scooped the pot.
The PokerStars Summer Festival Malta, running at the InterContinental Hotel, continues today with Day 2 of the Main Event starting at 12 p.m. local time.
All four starting flights have now finished. However, late registration stays open for the first two levels of Day 2, and so the number of entries and total prize pool are not yet fully confirmed.
So far though, a total of 814 entries were made in the opening days, making for a prize pool of €732,600. Of those, 270 players made it through their respective flights to earn a seat, .

Enrico Olivieri of Italy has emerged as the overall chip leader heading into Day 2. He'll be sitting down with 375,000 chips. Currently in second place is Tiago Luis of Portugal with 340,000, followed by Maher Achour of Tunisia with 335,000 chips.
Blinds on Day 2 will start at level 11 on 1,000/1,500 with a 1,500 big blind ante and will run for 60-minutes with a break every two levels. There will be 10 levels played today. Whoever survives will make it through to Day 3 and the business end of the tournament.
