Timofey Kuznetsov Leads the 2017 Triton Super High Roller Manila 6-Max Event

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Timofey Kuznetsov

The Triton Super High Roller Series has become a fixture on the international poker circuit since its founding in 2016. Once again some of the biggest names of the international poker circuit made the trip to Manila and joined the action in the exclusive Solaire Resort and Casino.

The first-class venue provided first-class service to its players including a free buffet and 35 unique players participated in the HK$ 250,000 6-Max Event (approximately $32,200) thus far.

After nine levels of 45 minutes each, only 24 hopefuls claimed chips and Russia's Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov holds a commanding lead after turning the starting stack of 50,000 into massive 342,200. Kuznetsov still leads the 2017 leaderboard for online cash game winnings and went on a hot run to dominate Day 1 of 6-Max Event.

Kuznetsov first scored a fortunate double with king-ten suited against the jack-five suited of Winfred Yu, then busted Yu after cracking the aces of the President of Poker King Club with king-seven suited.

Sergio Aido lost more than half of his stack early on before going back on track in the last two levels of the night. The Spaniard bagged up 139,100, closely followed by Mikita Badziakouski (134,800), Dario Sammartino (129,200) and Rainer Kempe (116,500).

Other notables coming back for Day 2 include Koray Aldemir (93,900), David Peters (83,400), Pratyush Buddiga (77,800), Erik Seidel (76,500), Founder of Triton Richard Yong (74,000), Dan Colman (56,600), 2016 Triton Super High Roller SunCity Cup champion Dan Cates (52,100), defending Triton Super High Roller Main Event champion Wai Kin Yong (32,500), Winfred Yu (29,700) and Paul Phua (26,800).

Six players opted to fire a second bullet and this created a 41-entry strong field. However, this number is not final yet, as the registration remains open until the cards are back in the air for Day 2 as of 1 p.m. local time on Feb. 18.

Among those to buy in twice was Phil Ivey, but the superstar failed to find a bag and won't be allowed to enter again. Ivey first bowed out with ace-nine against the pocket kings of Stanley Choi before being eliminated a second time in a three-way all in with Kuznetsov and Rui Cao.

Bryn Kenney and Mustapha Kanit were also among the casualties, but both can enter again before Day 2. Kanit busted in the last hand of the night in a battle of the blinds with Kempe after the former limped in with ace-jack suited. Kanit kept his promise to go all in during the last three hands of the night and did so with the king-five off suit; the board ran out queen-high.

During the second level, the event organizers, including Yu, announced an upcoming Triton Super High Roller Series later this year in Macau and welcomed all participants to join. Luxury watch brand Hublot was announced as official timekeeper and provider of the tournament clock for the high-stakes spectacle.

Kempe Busts Kanit in Last Hand

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

When the last three hands were announced, Mustapha Kanit promised that he would go all in still and the Italian kept the promise. In the second-last hand, Kanit won a pot against Rainer Kempe after betting a ten-high flop and the next hand then saw everyone fold to Kempe in the small blind.

The German limped in and Kanit shoved for around 40,000, Kempe called with the superior stack.

Mustapha Kanit: {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Rainer Kempe: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The board cam out {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Kanit was eliminated. "Damn, now I have to re-enter tomorrow," Kanit added and he can do so until the cards are in air.

Richard Yong was also all in, but Marcus Yi Lim decided to fold on the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} turn. Yong had pushed for 38,400 and Lim barely had that covered, he was shown the {9-Hearts} by Yong.

Kuznetsov Busts Ivey and Cao

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

The cards were all tabled and a small crowd had geared at the table to see Timofey Kuznetsov's button shove. Behind him, Phil Ivey in the small blind and Rui Cao, who was last seen with around 30,000, opted to call and create a three-way showdown.

Phil Ivey: {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Rui Cao: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Timofey Kuznetsov: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Cao was rooting for an ace, but the flop fell {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} to vault Kuznetsov into the lead. On the {10-Clubs} turn, nothing much changed but all three players still had the chance to win the hand. A blank {3-Clubs} river eliminated Ivey and Cao, for Ivey it was the second bullet and he won't have the chance to re-enter anymore.

Kuznetsov Cracks Aces to Bust Yu

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Winfred Yu
Winfred Yu

Winfred Yu raised to 1,600 and Marius Torbergsen in the small blind asked for his stack, to which Yu replied "around 30,000 with the raise." Torbergsen three-bet to 5,200 and Timofey Kuznetsov then asked for the stack of Torbergsen before four-betting to 13,800.

Yu moved all in and Torbergsen folded before Kuznetsov asked for a count. He then called and the cards were tabled.

Winfred Yu: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Timofey Kuznetsov: {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

"King seven again? You want to bust me with king seven suited you ... " Yu said and kept smiling.

The flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Kuznetsov picked up a flush draw, which caused some "ohhhs" around the table. A blank {Q-Clubs} turn changed nothing just yet, but the {3-Diamonds} on the river indeed completed the flush to eliminate Yu.

Ivey Busts to Choi

Nível 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

On the button, Rainer Kempe raised to 1,200 and Phil Ivey moved all in for 7,600 from one seat over in the small blind. Stanley Choi, just having sat down not long ago, moved all in from the big blind to isolate and Kempe folded.

Phil Ivey: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Stanley Choi: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The flop of {J-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} gave Ivey additional outs with the flush draw, but neither the {3-Hearts} turn nor the {10-Clubs} river improved his hand. This may not be the last time we have seen Ivey in this tournament though, as he can fire a second bullet until the start of Day 2 tomorrow.

Lim and Liang Take from Ivey

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Marcus Yi Lim
Marcus Yi Lim

Plenty of chips were in the pot with the board reading {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Phil Ivey faced a bet worth 9,000 by Yu Liang. The latter was called and rolled over {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a full house to scoop a decent pot.

One hand later, Liang opened to 700 and John Juanda three-bet to 2,100 in order to force folds all around.

Then, three players saw the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Ivey bet 800. Only Marcus Yi Lim called and Ivey checked the {J-Clubs} turn, Lim checked behind. After the {10-Hearts} river, Ivey checked and called a bet worth 4,500 by Lim only to muck when shown {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw that improved to two pair.

Those two pots took a toll on Ivey's stack and he dropped to half of what he staretd with.
