Esfandiari Bets Big Versus Ivey

Three players put in $15,000 each preflop and saw a flop of {7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Jennifer Tilly was first to act in the small blind, and she led out for $30,000. Phil Ivey called from the hijack, and then Antonio Esfandiari raised to $100,000 from the button.

Tilly thought for a couple of minutes before releasing her hand, Ivey made the call, and the {K-Hearts} appeared on the turn. Ivey checked for a second time and Esfandiari tossed out $154,000. Ivey hit the tank for several minutes, during which time he put together a stack of chips. It looked as if he was going to commit them, but after an audible sigh from Doyle Brunson, Ivey sent his cards to the muck.

Ship the $436,200 pot to Esfandiari.

Kirk Sent Packing

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Jean-Robert Bellande opened to $4,000 with the straddle on, and Phil Ivey made it $15,000 in the cutoff. Matthew Kirk called from the straddle, and Bellande mucked. Kirk check-called $25,000 on the {6-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, and $45,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn. The {7-Diamonds} river put a four-straight out there, and Kirk fired his last $83,000. Ivey quickly called, and he took the pot with {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a straight.

Having busted two buy-ins, Kirk evidently decided to call it a session, as his seat is now empty. Ivey's now playing about $850,000.

Kirk and Tilly Continue to Mix It Up

Jennifer Tilly limped for $800 and Doyle Brunson did the same. Matthew Kirk then raised to $5,000 from the hijack, Jean-Robert Bellande called out of the small blind, and the other two players put in the additional $4,200 to see a flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Two checks saw Tilly fire out $15,000, Kirk raised to $40,000, and both Bellande and Brunson got out of the way. Tilly thought long and hard, but eventually laid down her hand. Ship the $77,400 pot to Kirk.

Tilly Gets Value With Quads

Doyle Brunson opened to $4,000 in the cutoff, and Antonio Esfandiari made it $10,000 on the button. Jennifer Tilly cold-called from the small blind, and Brunson made it three to the {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. Esfandiari bet $14,000 when checked to, and Tilly called. Check-check on the {k-Spades} turn, and Tilly bet $30,000 on the {5-Spades} river. Esfandiari thought for a bit and called.

Tilly took the pot with {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Brunson vs. Tilly in $569,400 Pot

Jennifer Tilly raised to $2,500 from middle position and received a call from Johnny Chan. Phil Ivey called from the small blind, Doyle Brunson came along from the big, and four players took a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Two checks saw Tilly continue for $4,000, Chan folded, and Ivey got out of the way.

Brunson then check-raised to $14,000, Tilly three-bet to $45,000, and Brunson four-bet it to $139,000. Tilly paused for a moment before moving all in for $278,000, and Brunson snap-called to create a pot of $569,400.

Tilly: {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Brunson: {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Both players had flopped a straight, but Brunson's was best. Tilly's only hope was to hit either running flush clubs to win or a seven-eight to chop. They to agreed to run it three times, but Tilly missed each as the turn and river came: {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, {9-Spades}{q-Spades}, and {a-Hearts}{X-}.

The big pot saw Brunson increase his stack to $791,000, while Tilly opted to reload for $250,000.

Brunson Picks Off Ivey; Straddle Comes Off

Phil Ivey raised to $4,000 from the big blind, and Doyle Brunson called from the straddle. The flop came {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and both checked. Ivey bet $6,000 on the {4-Clubs}, and Brunson called. Ivey fired $17,000, nearly the pot, on the {5-Diamonds}. Brunson called, and he took down the pot with what looked like a ten with a paint card for a kicker.

After that hand, the straddle came off. Jennifer Tilly was one of the players opposed to continuing with the straddle, and Brunson may have been another, as Bright could be heard offering to cover half of "Texas Dolly's" straddle.

Texas Dolly Takes Down $164K Pot

Jean-Robert Bellande opened for $6,000 and Doyle Brunson called from the cutoff. The button, blinds, and straddler all got out of the way, and it was heads-up action to the {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop. Bellande bet $11,000, Brunson called, and the dealer burned and turned the {J-Spades}.

Bellande bet again, this time $22,000, but he couldn't shake Brunson, who flatted. When the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Bellande slowed down with a check and Brunson fired out $41,000. Bellande hit the tank for several minutes with calling chips in his hand.

"I don't like to fold," he said before dropping in the call.

"Two tens," Brunson proclaimed and tabled the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. It was good enough to win the $164,000 pot as Bellande sent his cards to the muck. With that, Brunson brought his stack up to $475,000.
