Welcome to Day 2 of $10,300 WCOOP Pot-Limit Omaha Championship

Talal Shakerchi

After a thrilling day of high stakes action, at least 20 players will return to their computers today to continue battling, with the goal of bagging up at the end of the day and securing a spot at tomorrow's final table. At the conclusion of play last night, there was 79 total entries, with 18 still having chips. With late registration open through the first 30 minutes of play today, that number has already grown to 20 and will likely continue to do so.

At the top of the leaderboards sits Argentinian "eltucu64", who bagged an impressive 2,678,034 after 15 levels of play on Day 1. Much of the top 10 consists of relatively unknown players, but also includes familiar faces such as Aku "Aku1206" Joentausta (1,329,010) and Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski (870,462). Also amongst the leaders is the reigning champion "jokkee_apart", who took down last year's highest buy-in PLO tournament of the WCOOP series at $5,200 for a score of $92,684.

Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi (528,939) and Joao "Naza114" Vieira (704,953) both bagged healthy stacks as well. They will look to move up the leaderboard with their eyes on a spot at tomorrow's final table. Last night, Gavin "gavz101" Cochrane and Maxi "mikki696" Lehmanski bought fresh stacks as play concluded, and will start today with 250,000, still good for more than 20 big blinds. Joining them with fresh stacks is Niklas "Lena900" Astedt and Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard. While Lehmanski is firing just his first bullet, the other three are all on rebuys, having played earlier in Day 1 and failing to preserve their stacks.

These late entries have pushed the prize pool up to $810,000, with still more time to grow. Official payouts will become available after late registration closes, but with current numbers, a total of 11 players would take home at least a min-cash of $19,206.07, with the eventual champion taking home $201,614.23.

Action will resume at Level 16, where blinds are 6,000/12,000 with a 1,200 ante. Levels will be 30 minutes long. Play will continue until just seven players remain. Those lucky seven will return for Day 3 tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3rd, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time to play down to a winner.

Be sure to follow along on PokerNews all day and tournament long as we provide live coverage as the next champion of online pot-limit Omaha is soon to be crowned.
