Johanes Not Easily Bluffed

Nível 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With the board reading {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Steffan Johanes bet 1,600 and an unknown opponent raised to 3,600. Johanes called and the dealer dealt the {A-Diamonds} on the river.

Johanes' opponent bet 5,250 and after a short while, the Dane called with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for just a pair of jacks. His opponent nodded and slid his cards face-down in the muck.

After finishing fifth in the €5,300 King's High Roller last night, Andreas Eiler kept up the good run by eliminating the first player from the tournament. The unfortunate victim was Christian Taepper, who ran into an unexpected hand from the Austrian high roller.

On a {5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades} board, Taepper bet 1,225 and Eiler made it 4,225 to go from the hijack. Dan Long Banh cold-called from the big blind and Taepper called as well.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} and Banh checked. Taepper elected to lead out 5,700, but much to his dismay Eiler moved all in. Banh folded and Taepper faced a decision for his remaining 9,000.

The German called it off after two minutes with {5-}{5-}, but was shocked when Eiler showed {3-Spades}{2-Spades} for the rivered inside straight that ended his tournament life on the spot.

Anjou Draws First Blood

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Sweden's Oscar Anjou was the one to drag in the first substantial pot of the day. Anjou held {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and bet 3,700 on a {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board. Zoltan Ban made the call in position.

On the {2-Spades} river, Anjou checked and Ban flung a T-5,000 chip casually into the middle. Anjou thought long and hard before making the call, but was right as Ban showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the busted draw.

Anjou is a professional live cashgame grinder from Sweden but occasionally likes to dabble in some tournaments.
