Vladimir Troyanovskiy Leads After Day 1 €5,300 King's High Roller

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

The first day of the €5,300 King's High Roller is on the books! The priciest event of the PokerStars Festival Rozvadov in the popular King's Casino attracted a total of 33 players (including reentries), of which 15 survived the first day. Vladimir Troyanovskiy ended the day with 203,300 in chips and was the one to top them all.

The most expensive event of the PokerStars Festival in 'RozVegas' started off at 6 p.m. with 10 runners but quickly saw more players pony up €5,300 to play. Unlimited reentries were allowed, but with the hefty price tag in mind, no player fired more than two bullets. Viliyan Petleshkov and Albert Daher were among those to try their luck two times, but they failed to end the day with chips in the bag. They were joined on the rail by [Removed:197], Mantas Bagocius, Jonas Lauck and David Urban.

Eyecatcher on Day 1 was, as he often is, Martin Kabrhel. The enigmatic Czech pro, who'd give Will Kassouf a run for his money when it comes to speech play, shot around the leaderboard like a pinball. Chipleader, short stack, reentry, down again and eventually back up summed up Kabrhel's day. He ended his rollercoaster on a high note by putting 148,300 chips in the bag, enough for fourth place.

Martin Staszko finished Day 1 with 187,300 in chips and sits in second. Staszko scored a near full double-up during the twilight hours of the day when his pair of kings outkicked JL's pair of kings in a massive pot. But one man topped them all at the end of the day: Vladimir Troyanovskiy. The Russian won a huge hand with a flopped straight against Kabrhel's middle set to claim the chip lead, then busted Viliyan Petleshkov to solidify his lead. Other notables to survive Day 1 were Eugene Katchalov (111,000), Pierre Neuville (50,400) and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (21,500).

Day 2 will commence on Thursday at 5 p.m. local time. Blinds will start at 1,000/2,000 with a running ante of 300 and levels will be 40 minutes. Reentries are allowed up until the start of Day 2 and those ultra late registrants will receive 25 big blinds to play with. The winner will be crowned on the same day.

The first starting day of the €1,100 Main Event will also be played on Thursday and will start at 4 p.m. The Main Event features a staggering guarantee of €500,000 and will be one to watch. Follow PokerNews throughout the week for updates on all the major events of the PokerStars Festival as the tension rises in King's Casino.

A short-stacked Vladimir Petleshkov was all-in from the big blind against Vladimir Troyanovskiy on the button. Petleshkov held {A-}{10-}, Troyanovskiy held {Q-}{9-} and spiked a nine on the flop to bust the Bulgarian.

Troyanovskiy Doubles Through Kabrel

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

At first glance, the blind battle between Martin Kabrhel and Vladimir Troyanovskiy looked to be a doozy as not many chips went in preflop. The {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop brought the fireworks and ended with both player's stacks in the middle.

Kabrhel checked, Troyanovskiy bet 2,000, Kabrhel check-raised to 8,000, Troyanovskiy three-bet to 22,000 and called off Kabrhel's shove.

Vladimir Troyanovskiy: {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Martin Kabrhel: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

It was the nut straight against middle set, and both the {2-Clubs} turn and {5-Diamonds} failed to pair the board and kept Troyanovskiy in the lead. Kabrhel had to pay exactly 99,900 to his left-hand neighbour and gave 100,000 to the dealer.

"Keep the change", Kabrhel grumbled as he transferred his chips.

Staszko Scores a Big Knockout

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Martin Staszko
Martin Staszko

A massive blind battle between Martin Staszko and JL left the latter empty handed after the dust settled. The board read {2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and the pot was already up to over 50,000. After Staszko checked, JL shoved all in for 60,000, slightly more than a pot-sized bet.

It was a difficult decision for the 2011 WSOP Main Event runner-up, as it was for nearly all his remaining chips. After contemplating for minutes, Staszko cut out the call and put his chips in the middle with a loud thump.

The decision turned out to be right, as Staszko's {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} outkicked JL's {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a better pair of kings to send the German to the rail.

Kabrhel Busts, Reenters and Doubles

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

The volatile Martin Kabrhel has seen every spot on the leaderboard today, but after chipleading for a short while his first attempt ended up short.

Kabrhel was all-in with his last chips holding {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} on an {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board. Vladimir Troyanovskiy called with {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and held up after the {7-Clubs} on the turn and {6-Hearts} on the river.

With his second bullet, Kabrhel quickly found himself at risk again. Holding {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}, the Czech saw a flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} appear. Aviv Meiri and Marian Fridrich checked, Kabrhel bet 11,500, Meiri check-raised to 26,500, Fridrich folded and Kabhrel shoved for slightly more.

Meiri quickly called it off with {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and had plenty of outs to win the hand. The {6-Hearts} on the turn was exactly what Kabrhel needed, rendering Meiri's flush draw obsolete and left his opponent drawing to the remaining kings. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Kabrhel doubled up.

Bagocius Coolered by Neuville

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

Pierre Neuville opened in middle position to 1,050, Mantas Bagocius called on the button and Martin Staszko defended his big blind. On the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop, Neuville bet 2,100, Bagocius called and Staszko folded.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Neuville checked. Bagocius bet 3,200 and received a call. On the {J-Diamonds} river, Neuville checked again. Bagocius bet a hefty 11,700, which left him with 20,600 behind.

Neuville asked how much Bagocius had behind, then took a minute before sliding a towering stack of T-5,000 chips forward. Back on Bagocius, the Lithuanian considered it for a minute before reluctantly calling the rest of his stack off.

Neuville tabled the nuts with {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. A composed Bagocius showed his {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} for the lower full house and was forced to the rail after the massive setup.

Kabrhel Sends Daher Packing

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

An already substantial pot was brewing between Albert Daher and Martin Kabrhel, with action on the latter. The board read {5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Kabrhel shoved all in, which was effectively for Daher's remaining stack of 23,500.

Daher needed no more than five seconds before sliding in a call. Kabrhel showed {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a set of fives and Daher nodded before mucking his hand. As it was an all-in situation, the Lebanese was forced to show his hand: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for two pair.

"Good luck with rebuy. Unlucky", Kabrhel said empathetically.

Meiri Folds Kings In Six-Bet Pot

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Aviv Meiri
Aviv Meiri

Tomas Jozonis opened to 500 on the button. Aviv Meiri three-bet to 1,800 from the small blind and Jozonis four-bet to 4,000. Meiri wasn't done yet, as he cut out a five-bet to 8,000. Unfazed, the Lithuanian put in another raise, making it 14,500 to go. After some consideration, Meiri came along with the call to play a six-bet pot with his opponent.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Meiri checked. Jozonis bet 8,500 and got a call from the Israelian. The dealer burned and turned the {7-Spades} and Meiri checked again. This time, Jozonis simply moved all in for 20,925.

Meiri intensely stared down his opponent and took minutes to come to a decision. Eventually, with a pain-staken face, he open-folded {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

"This would be a good time to show a bluff. Show a six!", [Removed:197] laughed.

Jozonis didn't show anything, though, and silently raked in the big pot.

Welcome to Day 1 of the €5,300 King's High Roller in Rozvadov

King's Casino
King's Casino

It's time for the 2017 PokerStars Festival Rozvadov! King's Casino, the heart and soul of the small municipality in the Czech Republic, once again sets the stage for an exciting series of events. The PokerStars Festival kicked off last week with the Pokerstars Open, a €275 Single Re-entry tournament with a staggering guarantee of €100,000. Germany's Fabian Cumz emerged victoriously and turned his modest investment into a sweet payday of €25,010.

It's the second PokerStars Festival on European soil since it's incarnation. In January, Rehman Kassam walked away with the trophy and £89,320 ($111,638) at the inaugural event in London. The runner-up Daniel Harwood, who claimed £95,000 after a chop, is here in Rozvadov to take a shot at more Festival glory.

Today at 6 p.m. local time, the €5,300 King's High Roller will kick off. Plenty of big names have already been spotted here in 'RozVegas'. King's Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik, Theo Jorgensen, Jan-Peter Jachtmann, Marcin Horecki, Martin Kabrhel, Martin Staszko, Jonas Lauck, Eugene Katchalov and none other than Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier are around and expected to take a seat today.

Players will start with 50,000 in chips and levels will be 40 minutes throughout the tournament. It's one for the deep pockets, as unlimited rebuys will be allowed until the start of Day 2 at 5 p.m. tomorrow. The winner will be crowned later that night. PokerNews will provide start-to-finish coverage of this exciting event, as well as tomorrow's €1,100 PokerStars Festival Main Event and the €2,200 PokerStars High Roller later this week.
