Lyubovetskiy Takes Three-Bet Pot

Nível 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Andrew Pantling opened the action to 12,000 from the cutoff and it folded to Andriy Lyubovetskiy in the big blind who three-bet to 38,000, which Pantling called.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Lyubovetskiy quickly announced pot and slid forward 78,000, having only 500 left behind. Pantling took some time to re-look at his cards, but in the end made the fold and the pot was sent to Lyubovetskiy.

After an action-packed day in Event #33: $25,000 PLO High Roller in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, it was Jeremy Ausmus coming out on top with an impressive stack of 385,000. Ausmus registered late and spun up his stack to secure the top spot for Day 2 tomorrow, January 29th at 2 p.m. ET.

A total of 44 entries joined the field throughout the day to create a prizepool of $1,056,440, and the remaining ten all have their eyes on the PCA title and the $364,440 top prize.

Ausmus has over $13 million in live tournament earnings and is no stranger to these high-roller fields. Having just come off a recent win in the PCA $2,200 Deep Stack for $144,610, Ausmus will have his hopes set on another trophy to add to his collection.

Many notable high-rollers joined the PLO streets, and some who weren't as fortunate to find a bag included Cary Katz, Cliff Josephy, Ben Lamb, and EPT champion Jason Mercier.

With 16 levels of play on Day 1, there was no shortage of action. Josephy started the day with a decent run of cards but fell short of making a deep run when he ran his combo draw into the two pair for Robert Cowen and couldn’t find improvement.

Later on, Sean Winter joined the field but couldn’t get much going early on. He found himself on a short stack and would hit the rail when his flush draw and straight draw didn’t hit against the aces for Shaun Deeb.

The final ten will return to their seats on Sunday, where the blinds will resume on Level 17 at 3,000/6,000. The 40-minute levels will continue, with 15-minute breaks after every three until a new PCA champion is crowned.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for our continuous live reporting all the way through the final hand and the next trophy being handed out here in The Bahamas.
