Reichenstein on a Rampage

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Uri Reichenstein (at an earlier event)
Uri Reichenstein (at an earlier event)

Florian Duta raised to 8,500 on the button, Sergi Reixach three-bet to 34,000 from the small blind, Uri Reichenstein slid a whole bunch of T-5,000 chips forward, enough to cover both players, and Duta folded.

Reixach shrugged and called it off for around 190,000.

Sergi Reixach: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Uri Reichenstein: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

There was no help for Reixach on a {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{K-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} board and he left empty-handed. With the elimination, Reichenstein is now over 600k and towering above the competition.

Baldwin Wins With Queen-High

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Brian Altman raised to 6,000 in middle position, Eric Baldwin three-bet to 25,000 from the big blind and Altman called. The flop was {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Baldwin continued with 38,000, which got called by Altman. Both players then checked the {4-Diamonds} turn and {A-Hearts} river after long thought.

Baldwin needed to show first and had nothing more than {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. It was better than Altman's hand, though, as Altman slid his hand in the muck to leave the sizable pot to Baldwin.

Konnikova's First Attempt Comes Up Short

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Defending champion and PokerStars Ambassador Maria Konnikova's first attempt at a title defence came to an in the 14th level of Day 1a. Konnikova was down to fewer than 10 big blinds and shoved it in on the button. Roman Wieczorek looked her up from the small blind.

Maria Konnikova: {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Roman Wieczorek: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop was as perfect as they'd come for Konnikova, who took a commanding lead with a set.

"You've got it," Wieczorek assured her

He spoke to soo, though, as the {4-Spades} turn and {3-Spades} river improved him to an improbable wheel to knock out Konnikova.

"What a jinx!" she laughed, and Wieczorek let out an apologetic smile. Konnikova quickly headed over to Day 1b for a second shot.

Nível 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jean-René Fontaine (at EPT Barcelona)
Jean-René Fontaine (at EPT Barcelona)

With around 20,000 in the middle on a {7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Jean-René Fontaine, who won the 2018 National and a Platinum Pass in Barcelona for €547,000, bet 25,000 and Brian Altman seized him up. Altman gave Fontaine an intense staredown and settled on a fold after a minute of thought.

Fontaine casually rolled over {Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Altman nodded in acknowledgement.
