France's Guillaume Darcourt is near the top of the field with 75,000 chips. Darcourt dominating a field isn't anything new as he has almost $1.4 million in live tournament cashes placing him in 30th place according to The Hendon Mob. Darcourt also has been known to dominate online poker. According to PocketFives, the French player was once ranked in the top 1,000 online poker tournament players in the world before the French online market became segregated.
On a separate note, some of the members of the media covering the tournament are secretly (or maybe not so secretly anymore) rooting for Guillaume Darcourt as he is the husband of the official photographer covering the tournament Caroline Darcourt.
Among those to leave the field before the second break were footballers Bernard Mendy and Léo Dubois.
