A total of 294 entries were tallied during the second starting flight of the 2016 Winamax SISMIX Main Event, a 6,000 MAD (€550) buy-in. Just 60 players, or about one-fifth of the starting field, advanced to Day 2 and they will join the other survivors from Wednesday's Day 1a and Friday's Day 1c to play on Saturday, May 28 when the combined field gets ready for two more days of action.

At the end of Day 1b, Andre Mabille finished with 217,000 in chips, which was good enough for the chip lead. Two other players ending the day on near the top of the pack were Moracco's Rachid Am in second place with 207,900 and Romain Lewis with 202,900.

Lewis looked like he would end the day with the chip lead after a big hand during the final blind level when he eliminated Florence Mazet in a 200,000-chip pot after his {A-}{K-} worked its magic with an {A-} hitting the flop against his opponents {K-}{K-}. Lewis shared after the hand that, "I got lucky, but you need some luck in this game."

However, luck wasn't entirely on his side as he lost a small pot with {A-}{K-} to the {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} in the last hand of the day when his opponent nailed a flush to dent his stack by 30,000 chips.

Also entering Day 1b were six Winamax VIP footballers including Bernard Mendy, Leo Dubois, Camel Meriem, Renato Civelli, Cédric Carrasso, and Guillaume Gillet. Gillet was the only one to move onto Day 2 with 145,200 chips, however, it is expected we may see some of the VIPs reenter for Day 1c.

Play will resume on Thursday, May 27 at 12 p.m. local time. The field for the final opening flight is expected to be bigger and include many of the players that were unable to survive today's action, and you can find all of the coverage right here on PokerNews.com.

Gaëlle Baumann Eliminated

Another popular female player has exited the tournament. Baumann, who was down to 10 big blinds, shoved all-in with {A-}{8-} and was called by {A-}{6-}. What seemed like a good spot to double - or at a minimum split a pot - wound up instead sending Baumann to the rails when a {6-} appeared on the board.

Baumann left the tournament arena putting to rest any doubts about her potentially re-entering today. Late registration closes after Level 8 which is about to begin in a couple of minutes.

Aurélie Quélain Eliminated

Team Winamax pro Aurélie Quélain was down to 4,000 chips and worked her way back up to 11,000. She was just eliminated now on a bad beat when she shoved her stack with blinds at 200/400 and an ante of 25 from under-the-gun with {A-}{Q-}. The big-blind called with {A-}{J-}. It looks like Quélain had a good chance of doubling up until the {J-} spiked the river.

Quélain shared that she plans to take the rest of the day off and re-enter tomorrow when blinds are smaller. She said she would re-enter twice tomorrow if eliminated, but wanted to give it another chance first with blinds still at 50/100.

Leo Margets Eliminated

Spain now has one less person in the field after Leo Margets was just eliminated.

France's Gregory Cometto opened the action from the button to 1,300. Margets three-bet to 3,100 from the blinds which Cometto called.

Both players check the action on the {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-} flop with Margets leading out for a bet of 3,200 on the {3-} turn which Cometto calls. Margets checked when the {A-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Cometto goes all in, and Margets calls off the rest of her stack of around 12,000 chips.

Cometto turns over {7-}{7-} for a full-house easily beating Margets' two-pair holding {J-}{J-}. Cometto is now among the chipleaders with 70,000 chips while Margets hits the rail before the second break. While she quickly left the tournament arena, she may still decide to re-enter with a couple of more blind levels open for her to do so today along with the possibility of joining the field tomorrow for Day 1c.

Welcome to Day 1b of the 2016 Winamax SISMIX Main Event

Winamax SISMIX
Winamax SISMIX

The second of three starting days of the 2016 Winamax SIXMIX Main Event at the Casino de Marrakech in sunny Morocco is scheduled to get underway in less than 30 minutes at 12:00 local time. In yesterday's first flight, 178 players joined the field with 38 survivors making it through to Day 2.

Belgium's Cheng-Wei Yin dominated the action late in the day against the mostly French field and ended the day with 307,500. Yin was clearly ahead of the field since the dinner break and never let up with his stack bouncing between 260,000 and 370,000 chips most of the time.

Many Winamax Team members were in attendance for Day 1a with many more expected today. Florian Decamps led the way among the sponsored players heading into Day 2 with 95,500 chips which was near the end of the day average.

It is expected that more players will enter in the second opening flight when compared to yesterday which should include many new players along with a many players we saw yesterday but were unable to make it to Day 2 including Winamax Team member Davidi Kitai who expressed he would be back.

Players once again will begin the day with 20,000 chips with blind levels increasing every 45 minutes providing plenty of play. Yesterday the average stack was over 50 big blinds almost the entire day with day ending with the average just dipping below this figure.

Also on today's schedule is the 1,600 MAD (€147) Total Bounty at 5:00 p.m., the 600 MAD (€55) Hit & Run SISMIX Main Event at 8:00 p.m., and the 1,500 MAD (€138) Iron Man Tournament at 9:00 p.m.

Stay tuned for coverage coming your way shortly.
